====================================== Notice to Autodesk Inventor Customers ====================================== In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a**, which fixes or addresses a variety of issues pertaining to Autodesk Inventor 10. This README file highlights how to install the patch, what has been fixed, and how to download the update. ================================================================================ CONTENTS ========= - Installation Instructions - Summary of issues addressed by this Service Pack - Service Pack Download Location ================================================================================ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ========================= NOTE: This patch update only applies to the AIS10 product. This patch will apply to both AIS10 SP2 as well as SP3. A separate patch will be released for the AIP10 product. (1) Download the Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a patch file "Inventor10_ais_SP3a.exe" **You must have Administrator privileges on your local machine to install Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a** (2) Double-click on the downloaded file. This is an exe patch file. You will also have a progress meter on your screen while the setup program is updating the files on your system. **To extract an msp version of the patch from the exe type the following at the command prompt: Inventor10_ais_SP3a.exe /e c:\temp\Inventor10_ais_SP3a.msp. This will place the msp version of the patch in your c:\temp folder. (3) To verify the Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a was installed successfully, an Information dialog box is displayed with this message: "The service pack was successfully installed and Autodesk Inventor 10 has been updated." (4) If requested, please reboot your system after the service pack is installed. *For final verification, from within Autodesk Inventor, select "About Autodesk Inventor" from the Help menu. If Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a has been successfully installed, the About box displays: "Build: 272, Release: 10 SP3a – Date: Thu 12/15/2005." ================================================================================ Summary of issues addressed in Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a include: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NOTE: CER stands for Crash Error Report Fixed the following issues: Assembly Modeling ----------------- - Flexible assemblies do not work if parts are checked out to another user. - Assembly files still prompt for saving after they have already been saved. - Crash in some cases when updating assembly files. - Crash in some cases when opening assembly files. - CER: Drawing fails to open if the assembly is not opened first. Drawing Manager --------------- - Balloon does not display properties when migrated to Autodesk Inventor 10. - CER: Crash in some cases when opening drawing files. - Thread Notes don't retain their position. - Unable to create a threadnote in Autodesk Inventor 10 that was possible to create in Autodesk Inventor 9. - In some cases opening drawing files causes Inventor to lock up. - Crash in some cases when migrating files from Autodesk Inventor 8 to Autodesk Inventor 10 SP2. - Merged parts list displays *varies* for logical iProperties when all rows have the same value. - Extra horizontal line shows up when the first row (after manually wrapped row) isn't visible. - Unable to project edges from break out view to add dimension. - Sheet metal flat pattern view setting is lost after migration. Part Modeling ------------- - CER: Crash when trying to open file. - OLE Links being redirected cause document to get dirtied. - Presentation links being redirected causes document to dirty. ================================================================================== Notes: ====== Autodesk Inventor 10, Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 1, Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 2 and Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a use the same file formats (.iam, .ipt, .idw, .ipn, .idv,.ide). All file types can be interchanged between these versions. The size of Autodesk Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a is approximately 40 MB.
