- We encourage you to install all of the point-products included in
the Autodesk Product Design Suites. You may install all products at once or in multiple sessions.
- .NET 4 is required for the installation of
Autodesk Product Design Suites. Please verify that .NET 4 is
installed before you start to install or deploy Autodesk Product Design
Suites. If it is not installed the installer can be found on
the source media under
"\3rdParty\NET\4\wcu\dotNetFramework\dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe".
- When you modify a deployment on Windows XP
operating systems please make sure the version of MSI is
higher than 4.0 or installation errors will be encountered.
- After you finish a silent
deployment installation, reboot the computer before you launch
any of the products in Autodesk Product Design Suites. If the version of
MSI of your operating system is lower than 4.0, the operating
system reboots automatically after the silent deployment
install finishes.
- If you are running Windows 7 64-bit, verify that you have the Microsoft fix for user
mode callback exceptions KB976038. This fix ensures that Autodesk receives the correct data from Inventor error
reports. For more information, and access to this and related Microsoft downloads, refer to technical support artical
TS15492718.
- Please update your operating system before you
install Autodesk Product Design Suites. Reboot your system after all security updates, and so on, are installed.
- If you cannot select some products to install, pause the cursor over the red "prohibited"
circle in front of the product to get more information.
- Using long install paths when creating and installing a deployment image for the suite may cause some products to fail to be
installed. The problem is caused by a 255 character limitation that Microsoft has for the number of characters in the installation path. If the total
installation path exceeds 255 characters some or all the products could fail to install. For more information on this issue see technical support article
TS18801386.
- Ensure that the install path or deployment path does not include non-English characters.
- If you download the source files to a local folder with a name that contains non-English
characters, ensure that the language in Regional Settings is consistent with the language name of local folder.
- The Autodesk Product Design Suites install Autodesk Design Review 2013 and automatically uninstalls
Autodesk Design Review 2012.
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable SP1 (version 10.0.40219) is installed with Autodesk
Inventor 2013. As a result, you cannot install Autodesk Design Review 2012 afterwards due to a dependency on Microsoft
Visual C++ 2010 RTM (version 10.0.30319). To install Autodesk Design Review 2012 after installing Autodesk Inventor 2013,
manually uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (version 10.0.40219) and any related updates, and reboot before you install
Autodesk Design Review 2012. You can reapply Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1, if necessary, after all Autodesk installations are completed.
- AutoCAD Mechanical Inventor Link is no longer installed by default with AutoCAD Mechanical.
To enable Inventor Link configure your AutoCAD Mechanical installation and select the custom Inventor Link box.
- We recommend that you use a certified graphics card and make sure the driver is up to date.
Go to this link cards and drivers and query on the certified
graphics cards and drivers for Autodesk products or the design suites.

Before you begin...
- Install Microsoft .Net 4.0
- Install all Windows Updates that are pending on your machine and reboot. You may need to perform a Windows Update multiple
times in order to completely update your operating system.
- Windows XP: Use the Windows Update utility located in the Control Panel.
- Windows 7: Windows Update is located in the Control Panel, and on the
sidebar.
- Reboot the system.
Uninstall all prior Autodesk Beta products:
Before installing Autodesk Product Design Suites please uninstall all
prior Autodesk beta products. The recommended way to uninstall the Autodesk Product Design Suite beta is by using
the Quick Uninstall Tool for Autodesk Product Design Suite. To launch the tool go to the Start Menu, All
Programs, Autodesk, and click the tool.
To Install Autodesk Product Design Suites:
For Electronic Fulfillment Users:
- Download the appropriate Autodesk Product Design Suites
installation files to a temporary location on your computer hard drive.
- Double-click the self-extracting executable file to access the Installer.
Temporary extraction is to your temp folder. Operating system errors regarding very long path names can
occur if this temporary location is nested too many levels deep.
- We recommend that you use the default destination folder, which
is "C:\Autodesk\...", as the self-extract destination folder name. After the file is extracted,
the Autodesk Product Design Suites installer wizard launches automatically. If it does not launch,
browse to the folder where the files were extracted and double-click setup.exe.
- In the installation dialog that appears you may choose the products that you want to
install. You may also configure each product with your preferences. To configure a product click the expandable
arrow in the dialog under each product.
- Reboot the system after the installation is completed.
For USB Users:
- Insert the USB stick in to an available USB port on your computer and wait until
Windows recognizes the device. The installation dialog should launch automatically. If the installation does
not launch automatically navigate to the USB drive using Windows Explorer and find setup.exe. Double-click
setup.exe to start the installation.
- In the installation dialog that appears you may choose the products that you want to
install. You may also configure each product with your preferences. To configure a product click the expandable
arrow in the dialog under each product.
- Reboot the system after the installation is completed.
To verify the installation was successful, you can check the version of Autodesk Inventor that was
installed. On the Help menu, select About Inventor. If the About box displays: Build: 138, Release: 2013 RTM, the installation
was successful.

- CER refers to a Customer Error Report.
- NG refers to an item reported on the Autodesk Newsgroups.
- Please note that files saved with beta versions of the individual products in Autodesk
Product Design Suites may, or may not migrate into the final release version of the product.

- Under certain circumstance installation times on Windows XP operating systems can be significantly extended.
Install times longer than four hours have been seen when Autodesk Showcase and, or Autodesk 3ds Max Design are included in the list of
products to install with the Autodesk Product Design Suite installer.
- A known problem exists where a driver update for a 3DConnexion SpacePilot 3D mouse may cause an error loading files
into 3ds Max, either directly or using the Launchpad's Photorealistic Rendering Workflow. The error displays the message MAXScript Auto-load
Script Error. Type error: Interface method call requires MAXClass, got: undefined. The workaround is to remove the offending driver update
file, 3DsStudio.ms, from the install directory (i.e.: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max Design 2013\scripts\startup\3DxStudio.ms).
- Windows Explorer restart failure during uninstall of the Autodesk Product Design Suite Launchpad. During the final
stage of uninstalling the Launchpad a warning dialog is presented stating that Windows Explorer.exe should be closed and automatically restarted.
However, due to a problem with Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Explorer does not automatically restart. Refer to technical support artical
TS14898448 or you can simply log out and log back in.
- There is a known licensing conflict between Autodesk 3ds Max (the standalone product) and Autodesk 3ds Max
Design (the suite product) when both products are installed on the same machine. The conflict prevents 3ds Max (the standalone product)
from launching using the Inventor Send to 3ds Max Design workflow. If you encounter this issue see technical support article
TS18632105 for a solution.
- There is a known issue where the Autodesk Sync component does not upgrade properly if you install the 2013 release
product after having had installed the 2013 beta product. Install combinations that produce the issue are: 1) AutoCAD 2013 beta or Showcase
2013 beta and subsequently installing Inventor 2013 release product. 2) Inventor 2013 beta and subsequently installing AutoCAD 2013 or Showcase
2013 release products. The issues related to this problem are: 1) Autodesk Sync from the Beta Product cannot be uninstalled. 2) You receive a
warning message that the Autodesk Sync component cannot be uninstalled during the installation process of the officially released product.
If you see this message dismiss this dialog and proceed with the installation. 3) After the installation of the release product is completed there
are two entries of the Autodesk Sync component listed in Add/Remove Programs. It is not recommended to uninstall either of the duplicate entries
of the Autodesk Sync component, as this action may break the sync functionality. Autodesk Sync will continue to work as expected. If the
two entries of the Autodesk Sync component are removed or for more information see technical support article
TS18744845.
- If you install Inventor 2012 after having installed Inventor 2013 the installation will fail with a Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 error.
The failure occurs because the Inventor 2013 installer upgrades Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 to Service Pack 1 level (SP1). However, Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1
is incompatible with Inventor 2012, which requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 without the service pack. The failure will also occur if Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1
is installed via a Microsoft update or by installing other software that requires Visual C++ 2010 SP1. If you encounter this issue see technical support article
TS18772151
for a solution.
- Error 1905 when uninstalling Autodesk Design Review or another Autodesk product. Error 1905 is a Microsoft Windows error which
occurs when uninstalling any software product and a permission issue prevents the file from being removed. If you encounter this issue see technical support
article TS18781934
for a solution.
- Failure to install Autodesk Inventor 2013 caused by failure to uninstall the Inventor 2013 beta language pack. When you
uninstall an Autodesk Inventor 2013 beta product that was part of a suite, the language pack occasionally may not fully be removed from your system.
The beta product entry is removed in the Control Panel, but the language pack is left behind on the machine even though it does not show up in the
Add/Remove panel. This prevents any future successful installation or re-installation of Autodesk Inventor 2013. If you encounter this issue see
technical support article TS18782654
for a solution.
- When accessing Autodesk 360 Optimization for Autodesk Inventor and using network licensing, sign out of Autodesk 360 before
accessing the environment. Sign into Autodesk 360 again when prompted. If you encounter access issues see technical support article
TS18814536.
- If you create and install a non-silent deployment which does not include either Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical or AutoCAD
Electrical, then all the installed products cannot be uninstalled using the Control Panel. These products may be uninstalled using the Quick Uninstall
Tool for Autodesk Product Design Suite 2013. To launch the tool go to the Start Menu, All Programs, Autodesk, Product Design Suite 2013 and click the tool.
