Readme for the Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 Service Pack
1
This Readme contains the latest information regarding the installation
and use of this service pack. It is strongly recommended that you read this
entire document before you apply the service pack to your product. For your
reference, you should save this Readme to your hard drive or print a
copy.
Important: You must also install the Autodesk
Civil 3D Service Pack 2 to use the migration feature in Autodesk Civil 3D
2006 or if Autodesk Civil 3D and Autodesk Land Desktop are both installed on
the same computer. For more information, see Installation
Information for Side-By-Side Installs.

Resolved Issues In Autodesk Land Desktop 2006
Service Pack 1
This Service Pack includes updates for Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 as well as
all updates in the AutoCAD 2006 Service Pack 1 and Autodesk Map 3D 2006 Service
Pack 1.
Autodesk Land Desktop
Resolved Issues
Actions That No Longer Cause Fatal Errors
-
Selecting a border while setting up a new Autodesk Land Desktop drawing.
-
Extracting data from an Autodesk Civil 3D drawing when Autodesk Land Desktop
is installed on the same machine as Autodesk Civil 3D 2006.
General
-
Issues with querying Autodesk Land Desktop objects, for example, points, contours
and grading objects, have been resolved.
-
The following information clarifies the behavior of the Absolute contour setting
on the Pond Contour Settings dialog box (Civil Design > Grading > Pond
Settings > Contours): When you choose Absolute as the method for creating
your pond contour, if you enter an integer value into the Elevation value
field, the pond contour elevation will be calculated using the integer value
entered. If you enter a value that is not an integer into the Elevation value
field, such as 0.5 or 1.5, the pond contour elevation will be calculated using
the nearest integer value, for example, 1.0 or 2.0 respectively.
Points
-
When extracting Autodesk Civil 3D point data that does not use point names
into an Autodesk Land Desktop project, all valid points now successfully extract
into the Autodesk Land Desktop project.
-
An issue with transferring point data from latitude/longitude to grid coordinates
or vice versa using the Format Manager has been resolved.
Labels
-
When labeling a pipe in plan view, using a floating-point division by zero
no longer causes the label to read "@-1.#J%".
Reports
-
Autodesk Land Desktop no longer becomes unresponsive while loading AecRecipeBase.
AutoCAD Resolved Issues
Actions That No Longer Cause Fatal Errors
- Adding
a stretch action to a dynamic block definition in a drawing saved with certain
linetypes.

same computer.
- Using the Properties palette to set mesh density
for a smooth polygon mesh.
- Pressing CTRL+A to select objects
in certain 3D views.

Who Should Install
the Service Pack?
This service pack is for the English-language locked and unlocked versions
of Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 and Autodesk Land Desktop Companion (installed
as part of Autodesk Civil 3D 2006), running on English-language and non-English-language
operating systems. You must apply a different service pack file depending
on which version is installed.
To determine which service pack to apply
- Launch Autodesk Land Desktop 2006.
- On the Help menu, click About.
- Click the Product Information button in the upper right corner.
- If the Product Name is Autodesk Land Desktop 2006, apply LDT2006_SP1.exe
- If the Product Name is Autodesk Civil 3D 2006, apply LDTCOM2006_SP1.exe
General
Installation Information
Important: You cannot run an automatic uninstall to remove this service
pack. To restore your version of Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 to its pre-service
pack state, uninstall Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 and reinstall it.
Installation
Information for Side-By-Side Installs
If you have additional AutoCAD-based products installed on your computer, you
may need to apply additional service packs to ensure all the products continue
to work properly after you install the Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 Service Pack
1.
These include the following service packs:
- AutoCAD 2006 SP1
- Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2006 SP1
- Autodesk Map 3D 2006 SP1
- Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 SP1
- Autodesk Civil 3D 2006 SP2
For example, if you have Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 installed on the same
computer as Autodesk Civil 3D 2006, you must install both Autodesk Land Desktop
2006 Service Pack 1 and Autodesk Civil 3D 2006 Service Pack 2 to ensure both
products continue to work properly.
Applying Service Packs to Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 and Autodesk Map 3D
If you have both Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 and Map 3D 2006 installed on
the same computer, the recommended order to apply the service packs is as
follows:
- Apply the Autodesk Map 3D 2006 Service Pack 1.
- Apply the Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 Service Pack 1.
If you install in the reverse order, several benign error messages will be displayed while installing the Map service pack. This is because the files in the Map service pack
will have already been updated to a newer version by the Land Desktop service pack.
The error messages will state that files have "already been updated by other
means and can no longer be modified by this patch. " If you receive this message,
click Ignore to continue the patching process.
Windows
Command Line Switches
The Windows command line switches built into
this service pack are as follows:
- /e - Extracts the MSP file from
the service pack executable.
- /q - Suppresses the completion message after
the service pack is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file
to apply the service pack to multiple computers.
Instructions about
how to use these command line switches are included in the procedures that follow.
Applying this Service Pack to a Stand-alone
Installation
- Download <patch name>.exe and save it to any folder.
- Insert your Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 CD into your CD drive.
- Navigate to the folder where you saved the service pack.
- Double-click the executable file for the service pack to install it.
Applying this Service Pack to an Autodesk Land
Desktop 2006 Network Administrative Image
The following two methods of distributing Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 Service
Pack 1 apply only to administrative images created with the Autodesk Land
Desktop 2006 Deployment wizard. After you complete these procedures, any new
deployments of Autodesk Land Desktop 2006 will have the service pack applied
to them automatically.
NOTE: In both of the following procedures, the service pack
file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file. You must extract
that file from the executable file. To extract the MSP file from the executable,
use the /e ("extract") switch.
