This Update 1 is for the following Autodesk products running on all supported operating systems and languages. Be sure to install the correct update for your software.

Information for Windows Vista Users
When applying this update while running AutoCAD Electrical, it is recommended that you do not click the "Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete" option. Instead, close AutoCAD Electrical manually before completing the installation of this update.

Circuit Builder
- Circuit Builder can become unstable with huge drawing extents.
- Circuit Builder does not support nested circuits inserted from single marker block.
Insert/Edit Components/Footprints
- Insert Connector From List becomes unstable when performing File Pick cancellation.
- Changing the scale changes the length in Din Rail insertion.
- The INST/LOC attribute's visibility changes when editing a component.
- Component pin values can be deleted when assigning catalog without pin list.
- PLC Database Editor crash when editing a module on 64 bit operating system.
- Wire Connection does not synchronize with Symbol Builder library.
Migration Utility
- Migration Utility fails to run on 64 bit operating system.
Project Database Service
- Project Database Service can become unstable under certain conditions.
Project Manager
- Project Manager becomes unstable upon hitting TAB key.
Reports
- Adding an ITEM sort option on BOM report.
- One-line data is not listed on certain schematic reports.
- Wire From/To report ignores Wire Tee markers when determining wire sequencing.
- Content in Description field can be missing from PLC report.
Terminals
- Terminal Strip Editor becomes unstable when changing terminal level numbers and rebuilding strips.
- Terminal Strip Editor fails for terminal with copied catalog from another terminal.
Wires
- Auto wire connection can be broken when inserting a motor.
- Multiple wire numbers can get inserted on a wire when performing remove and re-insert wire number.
General Installation Information
Before You Start
As you prepare to install this update, keep these points in mind:
- Custom files backup — Before you apply this update, be sure to back up all customized files like CUI, MNR, MNL etc.
- Administrative privileges — During installation, you will be prompted for the original installation disc or network image. You must have administrative permissions to install and uninstall products in order to successfully apply this update.
- Network deployment — Administrators can deploy this update over the network using a Network Deployment. Please refer to the Applying This Update to a Network Administrative Image section.
- Updated Certified Hardware XML Database — For optimal performance when using 3D visualization features, please apply the latest Certified Hardware XML Database from http://www.autodesk.com/autocad-graphicscardupdate. For a complete list of certified, supported, and non-supported graphics hardware for 3D display features, please visit http://www.autodesk.com/autocad-graphicscard.
About Windows Command Line Switches
Two Microsoft® Windows® command line switches are built into this update:
- /e – Extracts the MSP file from the update executable. Instructions about how to use the /e command line switch are included in the procedures below.
- /q – Suppresses the completion message after the update is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file to apply this update to multiple computers.
Stand-Alone Installation Instructions
To update a stand-alone installation
- Download the update and save it to any folder.
- If required, insert the product media (for example, AutoCAD Electrical installation disc).
- Find the folder where you saved the update and double-click the executable (EXE) file.
Apply This Update through a Local Network
You can use Communication Center to apply this update through your local network. Detailed instructions on how to set up patching through your local network are listed in the Communication Center tab of the CAD Manager Control Utility help.
Note: The CAD Manager Control Utility can be installed from the product installation media by selecting "Install Tools and Utilities" and by then selecting the Autodesk CAD Manager Tools.
Applying This Update to a Network Administrative Image
The following distribution methods apply only to administrative images created with the Deployment Wizard. After you complete these procedures, subsequent deployments of your product will include this update.
In all cases, please "Append" this update to a deployment. The only time it is appropriate to "Merge" an update is if you intend to distribute the deployment through a group policy object.
The patch (update) file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file, which you extract from the executable file using the /e (extract) switch. For an example of the syntax, see step 2, below.
To add this update to a new administrative image
- From the Autodesk Product Support website, download the update EXE file to your local computer.
- On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter information using the following syntax and click OK.
<local_drive:>\<patch_name> /e <local_drive:>\< patch_name>.msp
- Insert the AutoCAD Electrical media and launch setup.exe.
- Select "Create Deployments," then click Next.
- On the "Begin Deployment" page, in the "Specify the Deployment Location" box, enter the shared network location where you would like to create an administrative image, or click "Browse" to find a location. Users install the product from this location.
- In the "Specify a Deployment Name" box, enter the name for your deployment.
- Continue through the Deployment Wizard, and Configure when allowed. On the "Include Service Packs" page, click "Browse" to browse to the update extracted in Step 2. Notice that the update has been added in the "Service Packs Included in this Deployment" box. Click Configuration Complete.
- Follow the instructions in the Deployment Wizard to complete the update deployment.
To apply this update to an existing administrative image
- From the Autodesk Product Support website, download the update EXE file to your local computer.
- On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter the following information and click OK.
<local_drive:>\<patch_name> /e <local_drive:>\< patch_name>.msp
- Browse to the location of the existing Administrative image.
- In the Tools folder, select the "Create and Modify a Deployment" shortcut.
- On the "Begin Deployment" page, you may change the name of the existing deployment in the "Specify the Deployment Name" box.
- On the "Begin Deployment page", do one of the following:
- Select "Create a new deployment using an existing deployment as a template". Specify a new deployment name.
- Select "Modify an existing deployment". Modify the existing deployment.
- Continue through the Deployment Wizard, and Configure when allowed. On the "Include Service Packs" page, click "Browse" to browse to the update extracted in Step 2. Notice that the update has been added in the "Service Packs Included in this Deployment" box. Click "Configuration Complete".
- Follow the instructions in the Deployment Wizard to complete the update deployment.
To Uninstall this Update
Note: This update cannot be uninstalled when the product is installed from a deployment (also called an administrative image) with a merged update.
Note: Uninstalling this update also uninstalls the AutoCAD Electrical 2010 Hotfix.
Windows XP
- Insert the product media.
- On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
- In the control panel, click "Add or Remove Programs".
- In the Add or Remove Programs window, select the Show Updates option.
- Find the appropriate update in the list of programs and click Remove.
Windows Vista
- Insert the product media.
- On the Windows Start menu, click Control Panel.
- Click Programs.
- Click Programs and Features.
- In the Programs and Features window, in the left pane, click View Installed Updates.
- Find the appropriate update in the list of updates and click Uninstall.
