In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released Service Pack 1 for Vault 2008 and Productstream 2008, which fixes or addresses a variety of issues pertaining to Vault 2008 and Productstream 2008. This README file highlights how to install the service pack, what has been fixed, and how to download the update.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: This service pack update only applies to the Vault 2008 and Productstream 2008 client and server products.
NOTE: If Autodesk Inventor 2008 is installed it will need to be updated to Service Pack 1 before Autodesk Vault 2008 SP1 and Autodesk Productstream 2008 SP1 can be installed.
NOTE: If Autodesk Inventor 11 or Inventor 11.5 are installed they will need to be updated to Service Pack 3 before Autodesk Vault 2008 SP1 and Autodesk Productstream 2008 SP1 can be installed.
NOTE: Autodesk strongly recommends using the Vault backup utility to backup all databases and necessary files PRIOR to installing this service pack.
To install client and server changes for Vault 2008 SP1 and Productstream 2008 SP1:
- Download the service pack 1 file ADMS2008_Sp1.zip
- Extract the zip file to a temporary location on your server or workstation.
- Double-click on the ADMS2008_Sp1.exe file to begin installing the service pack.
- To verify the Autodesk Vault client 2008 service pack 1 was installed successfully, go to the Windows Start->Settings->Control Panel and open Add/Remove programs. Check the 'Show Updates' checkbox (in Windows XP). Find the Autodesk Vault 2008 entries and notice the 'Autodesk Data Management Server 2008 SP1' is listed.
SERVICE PACK DOWNLOAD LOCATION
Locate the Autodesk Vault 2008 and Autodesk Productstream 2008 service pack 1 file at:
MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007 SUPPORT
NOTE: Autodesk Vault 2008 SP1 and Autodesk Productstream 2008 SP1 may not install the Microsoft Office 2007 Add-In if the necessary Microsoft Office updates are not detected. Please refer to the Autodesk knowledge base article TS1070267 for instructions on how to manually install the required updates and load the Add-In.
NOTE: Support for Microsoft Office 2007 has ONLY been added for English 32 bit Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
To install Vault for Microsoft Office 2007:
- Autodesk Vault 2008 SP1 or Autodesk Productstream 2008 SP1 must be installed
- Go to the Windows Start->Settings->Control Panel and open Add/Remove programs. Select Autodesk Vault 2008 or Autodesk Productstream 2008 and then select "Change/Remove". Select Add/Remove Features, enable the MS Office Add-in and complete the install.
To Uninstall Vault for Microsoft Office 2007:
- Go to the Windows Start->Settings->Control Panel and open Add/Remove programs. Select Autodesk Vault 2008 or Autodesk Productstream 2008 and then select "Change/Remove". Select Add/Remove Features, disable the MS Office Add-in and complete the uninstall.
- Microsoft Office 2007 add-in is only supported on English 32 bit Microsoft Windows XP Professional. If installed on a non-English operating system some dialogs in the Microsoft Office 2007 add-in may appear in English, while others may appear in the localized language.
- After checking in a Microsoft Word 2007 document that contains a linked object the user will be prompted to check the file out
- The Vault add-in cannot be restored if it is manually removed from the Microsoft Word Add-Ins ribbon
- Unloading or reloading the Vault Add-in through the COM Add-Ins dialog may result in a crash
- Custom file properties in Microsoft Office 2007 are not being extracted
SUMMARY OF ISSUES ADDRESSED BY THIS SERVICE PACK
- Existing user names could not be edited
- Unable to remove users from a group
- In some cases attaching a master vault was taking a long time to complete
- File property values are removed when a re-index from the command line is performed
- The option to "Ignore restrictions (Purge unconditionally)" is incorrectly being enabled when a file version has dependent parents and is linked to an item.
- When selecting a restore location on a remote SQL instance that does not exist on the local ADMS machine an error is displayed
- Importing a zipped library fails when importing to a remote SQL instance and the AutodeskVault user does not have access to the temp folder
- "Link to Item" property is causing slow performance when using SQL 2000
- Error occurs when using the DBSC command in the process of a command line backup
- IsCustomPart property is being created each time a standard part is added to the vault
- File replication dialog is appearing twice when performing an open/place from vault operation
- In some cases migrating from Productstream 5 to ADMS 2008 may error and not complete
- AutoCAD attributes with a constant value were not being properly extracted
- When checking a file into the vault an error is displayed if the options to "Auto Publish on Close" and "Close Files and Delete Working Copies" are used together
- An error is being displayed when checking in an unedited xref if the "Create DWF Attachment" option is enabled
- Failure to create DWF attachments on check in for Inventor files when using Microsoft Vista
- The thumbnail property for AutoCAD drawings that contain xrefs are not being extracted when added to the vault
- A server error dialog was being displayed when adding, checking in, some DWG files
- CER is being displayed when a user navigates to a working folder with a long path
- Full Content search returns no results when Vault database name contains non-alphanumeric characters
- Inventor part files are being moved without updating the relationship to the parent file if Inventor is not installed on the client machine
- Copy Design is not displaying related IDW and IPN files when the file being copied had previously published DWF files using Task Scheduler
- When performing a basic search in the Vault Explorer($) root folder an error was being displayed
- In some cases when deleting a folder from the vault a CER was being displayed
- After Editing properties of an ACAD based file, Vault Explorer would need to be restarted in order to use the Edit Properties command again
- The status of a documentation file is incorrectly being set to reuse when the associated file is set to copy
- The Part Number property may become truncated after using the "update part number for copied files" option in the Copy Design dialog
- In Plot Manager, sorting a column in the grid may causes the Save command to become disabled
- When performing a copy design, selecting the ellipsis button (...) to browse to a folder location may take a long time
- Drawing in Vault browser is not displaying iPart factory relationship as it exists within the vault
- After adding newly created files to an assembly which was already in the vault, choosing to close the assembly displayed the Add Files dialog, after which the main assembly was not being checked in to the vault
- The time it takes to check out a large assembly is increased when the managed prompt "Some properties in file '{0}' may be out of date. Would you like to update properties now?" is set to "Yes to All" and "Never Prompt"
- Some file properties are displayed using the GUID in place of the property name
Vault for Microsoft Office
- When editing a read-only document and selecting "No" to check out, the file will become writable
- Released Items with effectivity pending are being displayed in Productstream Explorer when the option "Show only effective revisions for released items" is enabled
- Selecting the revision history tab of an item that is based off of a Microsoft PowerPoint file may return an error message
- Assign item fails with restrictions when the items secondary link file has an older version
- In Productstream Explorer the Revision drop down is not being displayed on the general properties page of the item
- An error is displayed when changing a pending item, which had previously been released, to obsolete
- In some cases Items are unable to be released and the following reason is displayed "Child item cannot have an effectivity date greater than parent item."
- When performing an item import parent items may not be correctly
associated with child items
