Readme for the Building Systems 2007 Service Pack 1

Building Systems 2007 Service Pack 1

This Readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this Service Pack. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply the Service Pack to your product. For your reference, you should save this Readme to your hard drive or print a copy.

Who Should Install the Service Pack?

Summary of the Primary Building Systems Issues Resolved by the Service Pack

As a result of detailed information from customers who used the Customer Error Reporting Utility, a number of stability improvements have been made in the following feature areas:

  • Content Builder
  • Panels
  • Compass
  • Multi-View Parts

Other changes included in this service pack include the following updates:

Content Builder

  • In Building Systems 2007 we require all content that contains pipe connectors to have a CEL (Connector Engagement Length) value specified on each pipe connector.  CEL parameter is now added or removed automatically when a new pipe connector is added to or removed from a piece of content.

Duct

  • When transitioning from a rectangular to round duct segment the default duct fitting will be the same as transitioning from a round to rectangular duct segment.  You will no longer receive the "No Default Part Set" dialog during this action.
  • Insulation and Lining will be displayed on radius elbows.

Export to AutoCAD

  • Due to XDATA on hatches within our content, Export to AutoCAD silently failed to create exported drawing file in Building Systems 2007.  This scenario with Export to AutoCAD has been resolved.

Labels

  • Deleting an auto-placed label on a pipe segment will no longer leave a gap in the pipe segment display where the label previously was.

Property Palette

  • Location values on all layout objects have been added back to the Property Palette when the segment(s) are selected.

System

  • Gaps on Schematic Lines, Schematic Pipes and Wires are now retained through External References.

Additional Known Issues

These are problems that have been identified in the original release of Architectural Desktop 2007 that are not corrected with this Service Pack.

Project Management
Saving a drawing as a view in Project Navigator may create a crash condition if the view references constructs and a drawing tool is active. To avoid this issue, make sure that no tool is active before creating a view from the current drawing.

Content Browser
After the installation of Microsoft's cumulative security update for Internet Explorer (KB918899), Content Browser may crash after accessing flyouts within the left pane. This issue can be resolved by installing a subsequent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.

Spaces
In Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2007 Service Pack 1, support for negative boundary offset values was added within space styles. If a drawing containing space styles with negative boundary offset values is opened in Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2007 without Service Pack 1 and a space style with a negative boundary offset value is selected, an error message stating that negative values are not supported is displayed. Press OK to dismiss the dialog.

Schedule Tables
Images included in schedule tables through use of graphic property definitions will not be incorporated in eTransmit results if the file format uses the "with Exploded AEC Objects" option. To work around this issue, use the Export to AutoCAD command to generate a drawing in which all AEC objects are exploded and eTransmit this drawing instead of the original.

Interference through external references
In order to see correct interference results when using external reference interference, it may be necessary to close and re-open a drawing if external references have been unloaded.

Creating a patched deployment with “GPO Deployment” checked.
We have noted sporadic failures with creating patched GPO deployments. The machine configuration that causes this defect remains undetermined. If this occurs please try creating the deployment from a different machine or apply the patch to client workstations individually.

Service Pack Installation Issues

It is recommended that you back up all custom CUI, MNU, MNS, MNR, MNL, and MNC files before installing this Service Pack.

Apply this Service Pack to a Building Systems 2007 Network Administrative Image

The following two methods of distributing Building Systems 2007 Service Pack 1 apply only to administrative images created with the Building Systems 2007 Network Installation Wizard. After you complete these procedures, any new deployments of Building Systems 2007 will have the Service Pack applied to them automatically.

NOTE: Clients that have installed the original deployment MUST install the Service Pack before the deployment can be patched. It is not possible to patch clients after an administrative image has been patched.  If you are unable to update all previously installed clients prior to adding this Service Pack to the administrative image, we recommend that a separate administrative image be created with this Service Pack applied.

NOTE: In both of the following procedures, the patch (Service Pack) file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file, which you extract from the executable file using the /e (extract) switch; see step 2 for the syntax.

To add Building Systems 2007 Service Pack 1 to a new Building Systems 2007 administrative image

  1. From the Autodesk Product Support website, download abs2007swlsp1enu.exe to your local computer.
  2. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter the following information, and then click OK:
    <local drive:>\<patch name>\ /e <local drive:>\<patch name>.msp
  1. On the computer where you installed the Network Installation Wizard, on the Start menu (Windows), click Autodesk > Network Installation Wizard.
  2. In the Network Installation Wizard, on the Welcome page, select Create an Administrative Image, and then click Next.
  3. On the Create Administrative Image page, in the Select Autodesk Installer (MSI) File box, enter the path to ABS.msi, the MSI file that you use as the basis for your administrative image. This file is found on your product CD or DVD-ROM, in CD or DVDROM:\Install\ABS.msi.
  4. In the Administrative Image Location box, enter an existing shared network location where you want to create an administrative image, or click Browse to navigate to a location. Users install Building Systems from this location.
  5. Select the Apply a Patch (Service Pack) to This Image option.
  6. In the Select Patch box, enter the path to the patch location (the location you entered in step 2, including the file extension .msp). You can also browse to locate the MSP file.
  7. Click Next, and follow the instructions in the Network Installation Wizard to complete the deployment of this Service Pack.

To apply Building Systems 2007 Service Pack 1 to an existing Building Systems 2007 administrative image

  1. From the Autodesk Product Support website, download abs2007swlsp1enu.exe to your local computer.
  2. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter the following information, and then click OK.
    <local drive:>\<patch name>\ /e <local drive:>\<patch name>.msp
  1. On the computer where you installed the Network Installation Wizard, on the Start menu (Windows), click Autodesk > Network Installation Wizard.
  2. In the Network Installation Wizard, on the Welcome page, select Modify an Administrative Image, and click Next.
  3. On the Modify Administrative Image page, in the Select an MSI File box, select an existing Autodesk installer file (MSI) from an existing shared network location that contains the administrative image you want to modify. Users install Building Systems from this location.
  4. Select the Apply a Patch (Service Pack) to This Image option.
  5. In the Select Patch box, enter the path to the patch location (the location you entered in step 2, including the file extension .msp). You can also browse to locate the MSP file.
  6. Click Next, and follow the instructions in the Network Installation Wizard to complete the deployment of this Service Pack.

Files Patched by this Service Pack

None of your customized files should be affected by this patch. However, if you are using a file that has a date earlier than the date of the file originally installed by Building Systems 2007, it will be replaced. For example, if you have simply copied acad.pgp from an Building Systems 2006 installation, it will have a modified date that is before the release of Building Systems 2007 and will be replaced. To avoid this issue, simply re-save the customized file, which will give it a later date, thus preventing its replacement.

NOTE: Any files which have been removed (or moved) after the original installation will be restored by this patch.
