AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT Layer Manager Hotfix Readme

Thank you for downloading AutoCAD®2011 and AutoCAD LT® 2011 Layer Manager Hotfix 

This readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this hotfix. If you have not applied Update 1 for AutoCAD 2011 or AutoCAD LT 2011, you do not need this hotfix. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply this hotfix to your product. For reference, please save this document to your hard drive or print a copy.

This hotfix applies to AcLayer.dll for the following products that have Update 1 applied:

·         AutoCAD® 2011

·         AutoCAD LT® 2011

Users who have applied Update 1 and keep the Layer Manager open while using Plot, Render, Orbit, or Autosave may see AutoCAD become unstable when modifying any layer properties.

NOTE: You must have administrative privileges on your Microsoft Windows operating system to complete the installation process.

 

 

 

1.
  On the computer where the affected product is installed, close all software applications.
2.
  For AutoCAD 2011, download either "AcLayer_Hotfix_for_AutoCAD_2011_Update1_x32.zip" or "AcLayer_Hotfix_for_AutoCAD_2011_Update1_x64.zip" file to a location on your local computer and extract "AcLayer.dll" from the ZIP file.

  For AutoCAD LT 2011, download either "AcLayer_Hotfix_for_AutoCADLT_2011_Update1_x32.zip" or "AcLayer_Hotfix_for_AutoCADLT_2011_Update1_x64.zip" file to a location on your local computer and extract "AcLayer.dll" from the ZIP file.
  NOTE: Choose the file that matches your operating system – x32 is for 32-bit, and x64 is for 64-bit.

Using Windows File Explorer, navigate to the location where AutoCAD 2011 or AutoCAD LT 2011 has been installed. By default this is “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2011” for AutoCAD and “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2011” for AutoCAD LT.

  Right Click on "AcLayer.dll" and select the properties.

  For Windows XP, click on the Version tab, and for Windows Vista and Windows 7 click on the Details tab.

  Check the File Version and verify that it is 18.1.115.0.
  NOTE: If the version of “AcLayer.dll” is not 18.1.115.0 you do not need to install this hotfix.

  Right click on “AcLayer.dll” and rename it to “AcLayer.dll.org”.
9.
  Copy the hotfix downloaded version of “AcLayer.dll” to the install location.
10.
  Start AutoCAD and or AutoCAD LT and verify that it’s running.
     
    NOTE: You can restore AutoCAD 2011 and or AutoCAD LT 2011 to the previous state by removing the updated "AcLayer.dll" and renaming "AcLayer.dll.org" back to "AcLayer.dll".
