Notice to AutoCAD Mechanical Customers

In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 Service Pack 3, which fixes or addresses a variety of issues pertaining to AutoCAD Mechanical 2009.

This README file highlights what has been fixed or addressed, where to download the update, and how to install it.

Installation Instructions

Before you begin to install, ensure that ...

Standalone installation

NOTE: If you are using Windows Vista, do not select the Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete option. Instead, we recommend that you manually close AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 before you install this update.

  1. Download acm2009_swl_sp3_x86.exe for the 32-bit version or acm2009_swl_sp3_x64.exe for the 64-bit version of AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 Service Pack 3 installer. This patch can also be installed on all flavors of AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 in :
  2. Double click the installer to run it.
  3. Once AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 Service Pack 3 installation is complete, a message informing you that the update has been successfully applied is displayed.

Network deployment

It is not possible to create a new deployment tree based off an existing one. If you wish to keep a copy of your original Deployment tree, copy the original to another location prior to making changes.

To add the service pack to a new administrative image

  1. Insert the product install disc and launch Setup .exe.
  2. Select Create Deployments.
  3. Continue through the deployment wizard until you come to the Configuration page.
  4. In the Configuration of AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 page, select Network license and specify your license server location.
  5. Click Next until you come to the Include Service Packs page.
  6. Click on the Updates are available button. If this button is not enabled please follow the steps in Note.
  7. In the Manage Patch Folder dialog box,
    1. Click Action type
    2. Select <Add to patch folder>
    3. Click the Update Patch Folder button.
    The patch will be downloaded to <your deployment location>\AdminImage\ServicePacks folder.
    Once the download is completed, you will receive a message stating that your local patch folder has been updated.
  8. Click Close on the Manage Patch Folder dialog.
  9. Back in the Include Service Packs page, click the Browse button to locate your patch file (step 7).
  10. Verify that the service pack has been added to the Service packs included in this deployment box.
  11. Continue through the configuration or click Configuration Complete.
  12. Click Create Deployment to start your deployment creation.

To apply the service pack to an existing administrative image

  1. Browse to the location containing the existing administrative image.
  2. In the Tools folder, double-click the <Create & modify a deployment> shortcut to launch the deployment wizard.
  3. Click the <Modify an existing deployment> option.
  4. Continue through the deployment wizard until you come to the Configuration page.
  5. In the Configuration of AutoCAD Mechanical 2009, click Next until you come to the Include Service Packs page.
  6. Click on the Updates are available button. If this button is not enabled please follow the steps in Note.
  7. In the Manage Patch Folder dialog box,
    1. Click Action type
    2. Select <Add to patch folder>
    3. Click the Update Patch Folder button.
    The patch will be downloaded to <your deployment location>\AdminImage\ServicePacks folder.
    Once the download is completed, you will receive a message stating that your local patch folder has been updated.
  8. Click Close on the Manage Patch Folder dialog.
  9. Back in the Include Service Packs page, click the Browse button to locate your patch file (step 7).
  10. Verify that the service pack has been added to the Service packs included in this deployment box.
  11. Continue through the configuration or click Configuration Complete.
  12. Click Create Deployment to modify your existing deployment. 

Note:

If the Updates are Available button is not enabled, follow the procedure outlined below to manually download the patch and create the deployment.

  1. Download the service pack .exe file from Autodesk Product Support website.
  2. Extract the .msp file from the service pack .exe file :
  3. Click Browse to locate the .msp file you extracted in step 2.
  4. Verify that the service pack has been added to the Service packs included in this deployment box.
  5. Continue through the configuration or click Configuration Complete.
  6. Click Create Deployment to start your deployment creation. 

After you install the Service Pack

Uninstalling this Service Pack

NOTE: This service pack cannot be uninstalled if it has been installed via a network deployment, with a merged update.

Windows XP

  1. On the Start menu, click Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. In Windows XP, select the Show Updates option.
  4. Locate the appropriate service pack in the list of updates and click Remove.

Windows Vista

  1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs.
  3. Click Programs and Features.
  4. In the Programs and Features window, in the left pane, click View Installed Updates.
  5. Locate the appropriate service pack in the list of updates and click Uninstall.

Miscellaneous Notes

AutoCAD Mechanical 2009, AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 Service Pack 1, AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 Service Pack 2, and AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 Service Pack 3 use the same file format. All drawing files created in any of these versions are interchangeable
