When you apply this update while running AutoCAD or AutoCAD Mechanical, it is recommended that you do not click the "Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete" option. Instead, close AutoCAD or AutoCAD Mechanical manually, and press "Ignore" at the prompt. It is also recommended that you reboot your system after installing the update.
As a result of detailed information from customers who used the Customer Error Reporting Utility, a number of problems were identified and fixed. Updates have been made in the following commands and features:
This update also includes AutoCAD 2011 Update 1.1. For information on the issues addressed by AutoCAD 2011 Update 1.1, please refer to the Readme on the AutoCAD 2011 Update 1.1 page of the AutoCAD Services and Support website.
The following issues have been addressed by AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 Update 1 :
Dimensioning
- Fit symbol does not display correctly after exiting the dimension in-place editor.
- "Apply to" button in the dimension in-place editor does not work correctly for tolerance value.
- Inability to add chamfer dimension while creating a chamfer using AMCHAM2D.
- Tolerance and fit in dimension value does not switch according to the Fit and Tolerance button in the dimension in-place editor.
- Visibility of the Fit and Tolerance preview in the dimension in-place editor is not good.
- AMPOWERDIM_JOG ignores the value of DIMJOGANG setting.
- MATCHPROP does not work correctly for tolerance value; the tolerance changes back to original after a poweredit.
- Dimension break does not show up for some drawings when a surface texture symbol is attached to dimension.
- In the dimension in-place editor, diameter symbol does not display if additional text is entered into the primary dimension value.
Bill of Materials (BOM), Parts List and Balloons
- It is not possible to amend a balloon item number starting with zero.
- After inserting few instances of block with part references, inserting new instances adds new rows to the parts list instead of incrementing the quantity of the corresponding item.
Symbols
- Some surface texture symbols attached to dimension lines do not display correctly after a MOVE operation.
- Fatal error occurs during grip editing of leader note with multiple leaders.
- Base point of leader note gets shifted while moving the intersection grip point of multiple leaders.
- Wrong order of surface texture symbols when majority symbol option is used.
- In some language versions of AutoCAD Mechanical 2011, "E" and "B" fields in Surface Texture dialog do not show correct font.
- It is not possible to drag the intersection grip point of symbols with multiple leaders.
- Missing node in first leader when adding a secondary leader to welding symbol.
- "Shift+F" does not work for symbol leaders if main acadm.cuix file is changed to custom cuix file in AMOPTIONS.
Detail View
- Detail view in viewport shows the wrong scale if it is created with "Viewport of copy in layout" option.
- Error 5003 encountered while creating detail views in some drawings.
- Dimensions on exploded detail view show incorrect values.
Inventor link
- For some inventor linked parts, thread hole information does not display in leader note.
Custom content
- Component properties in Bill of Materials appears as numeric even when the corresponding column type is already set to Text in the content family table.
- German text string does not display correctly in Content Manager.
Standard Content
- Size of inserted roller bearing is different from the value specified.
- Centerline overshoot of standard holes does not get scaled after COPYCLIP and PASTEBLOCK of the hole.
- It is not possible to create Top and Front view for "JIS B 1301 - 8x7x80" Parallel Key.
- Size of geometry inside a screw connection does not correspond to the cursor position during dynamic dragging.
Other Issues
- Fatal error in opening certain drawings from older releases of AutoCAD Mechanical.
- Polar array for standard content does not work if "Rotate items as copied" option is unchecked.
- In some drawings, fatal error occurs after exiting the block editor.
- Block entities cannot be selected after exploding.
- In some instances, preview of array does not show up consistently.
- During block reference edit, fatal error occurs in Property Palette if you attempt to change properties of an object that is not part of the block reference.
- UNISOLATEOBJECTS does not work for standard content.
- SELECTIONCYCLING does not work correctly in some situations.
- Fatal error occurs while creating construction lines in some drawings.
- Extra points appear after editing block references containing standard holes in block editor.
- Errors encountered in some templates when used in AutoCAD Mechanical File Migration Utility.
- AutoCAD Mechanical File Migration Utility does not work with some templates in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
- Fatal error occurs when changing the scale of viewport using the status bar viewport scale.
- DXFOUT default format is DWG instead of DXF.

Back Up Custom Files
It is recommended that you back up all custom CUI, MNR, and MNL files before you apply this update.
Administrative Privileges
During installation, you will be prompted for the original installation media or a network image. In order to apply this update, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.
Network Deployment
Administrators can deploy this update over a network using the Deployment wizard.
About Your Product
After you install, product information displays in the About dialog box.
Reboot
After you install, be sure to reboot your system even if not prompted.

Follow these instructions to install this update on a single computer.
You can use InfoCenter to apply this update through your local network. Detailed instructions on how to set up patching through your local network are listed in the InfoCenter tab of the CAD Manager Control Utility Help.
Note: You can install the CAD Manager Control Utility from the product installation media. Select Install Tools and Utilities and then select Autodesk CAD Manager Tools.
The following distribution method applies only to administrative images created with the Deployment wizard. After you complete these procedures, subsequent deployments of your product will include this update.
In all cases, append this update to the deployment. The only time it is appropriate to merge an update is if you intend to distribute the deployment through a group policy object.
The patch (update) file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file, which you extract from the executable file using the /e (extract) switch. For an example of the syntax, see step 2, below.

Note: This update cannot be uninstalled when the product is installed from a deployment (also called an administrative image) with a merged update.
