This readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of the Service Pack. It is strongly recommended that you read the entire document before you apply the Service Pack to your product. For reference, you should save this document to your hard drive or print a copy.

When you apply this Service Pack while running AutoCAD Mechanical, it is recommended that you do not click the "Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete" option. Instead, close AutoCAD Mechanical manually, and press "Ignore" at the prompt. It is also recommended that you reboot your system after installing the Service Pack.
As a result of detailed information from customers who used the Customer Error Reporting Utility, a number of problems were identified and fixed. Updates have been made in the following commands and features:

This service pack also includes AutoCAD 2012 Service Pack 2. For information on the issues addressed by AutoCAD 2012 Service Pack 2, please refer to the Readme on the AutoCAD 2012 Service Pack 2 page of the AutoCAD Services and Support website.
The following defects have been addressed by AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 Service Pack 2:Bill of Materials (BOM), Parts List and Balloons
Service Pack 1
- Fatal error occurs when creating balloons for some Inventor assembly models.
- Unable to create balloons when the BOM data type of item is changed to Text.
- In some drawings, property overrides entries disappear from the BOM and Parts List.
- Unexpected behavior when rows in Parts List are merged and split again.
- In large drawings with external references, BOM causes performance issues in XREF Insert.
- Properties are lost in the copied instances of a part reference of standard content.
- Merge button in BOM is disabled even when there are similar BOM items.
- Fatal error occurs when importing CSV file in Parts List dialog.
Service Pack 2
- Issue of calculated values not updating in the Part Reference dialog box, when the values of the references specified in the calculation change.
- Inability to merge parts list rows containing identical components from a screw connection, after the screw connection is edited.
- Issue with the AMBALLOON command not recognizing block part references in blocks that participate in AMSHIDE hide situations.
- Issue with single part mechanical structure drawing not showing the correct icon in the BOM.
Hatch
Service Pack 1
- Hatch pattern does not update correctly after a stretch operation.
Annotation Note
Service Pack 1
- Custom note entries in Symbol tab are lost after making changes in Leader and Text tab of AMNOTE dialog.
- In some custom templates, note text disappears after adding a leader segment.
- The gap distance between the text and landing line of the leader note does not obey the model scale value set in Options.
Service Pack 2
- Occurrence of an exception when creating leader note symbols, after a drawing view is created with the AMDWGVIEW command.
Symbols
Service Pack 1
- Weld symbol scaling does not obey the model scale value set in Options.
- Symbol does not obey scaling value set in the Scale Area dialog.
- In GB standard, default value for Datum Identifier arrowhead is Filled45 instead of Filled60.
- Position of Surface Texture changes during block creation and edit.
Service Pack 2
- Occurrence of an exception during migrating genius symbols when the cursor is moved over the symbols.
- Issue of symbols not rescaling correctly when the scale of the drawing border containing them is changed, and the new scale contains decimals.
- Issue where UNDO does not cleanly restore Surface Texture symbols that have been moved.
Title Block
Service Pack 1
- Poweredit of title block brings up the Enhanced Attribute Editor instead of the Change Title Block Entry dialog
- In the 64-bit version, if you change the scale of the title block, a new revision line cannot be added to the existing revision table.
Content Library
Service Pack 1
- If a custom content is copied from a standard content, during grip editing, the first size in the size list is always selected regardless of its actual size.
- Parts in a screw connection disappear after changing the view of the screw connection.
- Parameters Manager cannot be launched inside Content Editor.
Service Pack 2
- Occurrence of an exception when changing the representation of user countersinks from standard to simplified.
- Occurrence of an exception when you select the undo option while using the AMEXPLODE command on standard parts.
- Occurrence of an exception when migrating a content library with the AMCONTENTMIGRATE command, and the imported content library has favorites that conflict with the favorites in the existing content library.
- Issue of some JIS based standard content being drawn to incorrect dimensions.
- Issue of some JIS based standard content not showing the correct size in its description.
- Issue of centerline overshoots not scaling correctly when the SCALE command is used on standard content.
Construction lines
Service Pack 1
- AMPROJO does not always bend at 45 degrees.
Power Dimensions
Service Pack 2
- Issue of AUDIT reporting errors in some drawings after power dimensions are inserted.
Layers
Service Pack 2
- Occurrence of an exception after applying the LAYMGR command on drawing border together with symbols.
Hide Situations
Service Pack 1
- In Structure mode, hide situation is lost after a path array when the base point is re-selected.
- Centerline cannot be hidden when there is standard content in the hide situations.
Service Pack 2
- Intermittent occurrence of an exception when canceling edits made to an AMSHIDE hide situation, when objects have been moved from one level in a hide situation to another.
- Occurrence of an exception when using AM2DHIDE with blocks on some drawing files exported from Autodesk Inventor to AutoCAD Mechanical.
- Issue with CTRL+A not selecting all objects for AMSHIDE hide situations
- Issue with incorrect count of items (QTY) in the BOM when the corresponding part/assembly participates in a AMSHIDE hide situation and the hide situation is suppressed.
File Migration Utility
Service Pack 1
- File Migration Utility does not work if AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 is installed in a location with long path.
Default standards template
Service Pack 1
- Fatal error occurs when opening a drawing after changing the default standards template in Options dialog.
Open/Save
Service Pack 1
- Errors appear at file open if the drawing has previously being saved to old release format via QSAVE.
- DBMOD value changes when the PUBLISH command is cancelled.
- When multiple drawings are open, closing a drawing can cause a fatal error.
Service Pack 2
- Occurrence of an exception when opening some AutoCAD Mechanical drawings that have been modified in AutoCAD.
- Occurrence of an exception when auto save is performed when multiple drawings are open, and dimension breaks created with AMDIMBREAK are copy pasted from one drawing to another.
- Occurrence of an exception when you save drawings that contain dimensions on which the MATCHPROP command has been used, and the source dimension for the MATCHPROP command is from another drawing.
- Occurrence of an exception when some corrupted drawing files are opened.
- Occurrence of an exception when opening some drawings that are not Trusted DWG drawings, which open without any issues in AutoCAD.
- Occurrence of exceptions when opening some files that were saved as AutoCAD 2004.
Structure
Service Pack 1
- Content in browser is lost after reloading an external reference twice.
- Fatal error occurs when clicking on the base point of a line component.
Miscellaneous
Service Pack 2
- Occurrence of an exception when using the EXPORTLAYOUT command on some drawings.
The Service Pack brings back the Array dialog functionality by introducing a new ARRAYCLASSIC command. It also introduces the option to restore legacy Snap behavior by controlling it through the new SNAPGRIDLEGACY system variable:
ARRAYCLASSIC
Creates copies of objects in a regularly spaced rectangular or polar array.
SNAPGRIDLEGACY
1 – Always snap the cursor to the grid
0 – Only snap the cursor to the grid when AutoCAD prompts to specify a point
As you prepare to install this Service Pack, keep the following in mind:
Back Up Custom Files
It is recommended that you back up all custom CUIX, MNR, and MNL files before you apply this Service Pack.
Administrative Privileges
During installation, you will be prompted for the original installation media or a network image. In order to apply this Service Pack, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.
Network Deployment
Administrators can deploy this Service Pack over a network using the Deployment Wizard.
About Your Product
After you install the Service Pack, updated product information displays in the About dialog box.
Reboot
After you install, it is recommended to reboot your system even if not prompted.

Instructions about how to use the /e command line switch are included in the installation procedures that follow.
Follow these instructions to install this Service Pack on a single computer.
You can use InfoCenter to apply this Service Pack through your local network. Detailed instructions on how to set up patching through your local network are listed in the InfoCenter tab of the CAD Manager Control Utility Help.
Note: You can install the CAD Manager Control Utility from the product installation media. Select Install Tools and Utilities and then select Autodesk CAD Manager Tools.
The following distribution method applies only to administrative images created with the Deployment Wizard. After you complete these procedures, subsequent deployments of your product will include this Service Pack.
In all cases, append this Service Pack to the deployment. The only time it is appropriate to merge the Service Pack is if you intend to distribute the deployment through a group policy object.
The patch (Service Pack) file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file, which you extract from the executable file using the /e (extract) switch. For an example of the syntax, see step 2, below.
