For your reference, you should save this Readme to your hard drive or
print a copy.
Important: If you have Autodesk Civil 3D
2007 and Autodesk Land Desktop Companion 2007 both installed on the same computer,
you must also install the Autodesk
Civil 3D 2007 Service Pack 3. For more information, see Installation
Information for Side-By-Side Installs. It is also strongly recommended that
you install the Autodesk Land Desktop Service Pack 2 before installing the Autodesk
Civil 3D - Civil Design 2007 Service Pack 2 and Autodesk Survey 2007 Service
Pack 1.
Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 Service Pack 2 and Autodesk Civil Design 2007 Service
Pack 2 contain all the updates that were included in Autodesk Land Desktop 2007
Service Pack 1 and Autodesk Civil Design 2007 Service Pack 1, therefore it is
not necessary to install these service packs. You should simply install the
Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 Service Pack 2 and Autodesk Civil Design 2007 Service
Pack 2 over these previously installed service packs.

General
Installation Information
-
It is recommended that you create a backup of all custom CUI (menu customization)
files before installing the service packs. These files are located in your
\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk
Land Desktop 2007\R17\enu\Support folder.
- During the installation of one or both of these updates, you may be prompted
for the original installation media or network image.
- Note that after you install this service pack on a system with Autodesk
Raster Design, you must do a Repair of Autodesk Raster Design 2007.
- You may experience problems installing the service pack with older versions
of the Windows Installer service. If during the installation, you receive
an error with a code of 2727, make sure you update the Windows Installer service
to its latest version from the Microsoft web site. For more information, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803.
The download of the new version is available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=889482FC-5F56-4A38-B838-DE776FD4138C.
Important: You cannot run an automatic uninstall to remove these service
packs. To restore your version of Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 (or Autodesk Civil
3D - Civil Design Companion 2007, Autodesk Survey 2007) to its pre-service pack
state, uninstall Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 (or Autodesk Civil 3D - Civil Design
Companion 2007 or Autodesk Survey 2007) and reinstall it. You should uninstall
the products in the reverse order of installation.
Installation
Information for Side-By-Side Installs
If you have additional AutoCAD-based products installed on your computer, you
may need to apply additional service packs to ensure all the products continue
to work properly after you install the Autodesk Land Desktop Service Pack 2
(or the Autodesk Civil 3D - Civil Design Companion 2007 Service Pack 2 or Autodesk
Survey 2007 Service Pack 1).
For example, if you have Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 installed on the same
computer as Autodesk Civil 3D 2007, you must install both Autodesk Land Desktop
Service Pack 2 and Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 Service Pack 3 to ensure both products
continue to work properly.
There are issues with Autodesk Map functionality if you run Autodesk Map 2007
and Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 side by side. To resolve these issues, please
remove the following entry from the Support File Search Path in Land Desktop:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\FDO.
To edit the Support File Search Path
- Enter Options at the command line.
- In the Options dialog box select the Files tab.
- Expand the Support Files Search Path, select C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk
Shared\FDO and click Remove.

the Communication Center.
To apply the Autodesk Land Desktop Service Pack 2 through Communication
Center using local patch list functionality
To configure a local patch list, follow the steps below.
-
Before performing this procedure, make sure that the following
requirements have been met on the machine that is used to do the local
patch list configuration:
- Land Desktop 2007 must be installed
- Current update (service pack) must not be applied to Land Desktop
2007
- CAD Manager Control Utility 4.0 must be installed
-
Launch the CAD Manager Control Utility.
-
For Product, choose Autodesk Land Desktop 2007.
-
On the Communication Center tab, choose "Receive Live Updates
from local network" from the look up list.
-
Browse to the shared folder that you will download the updates
(this service pack) to using UNC path. The patchlist.npl file will
be created automatically.
-
Select the Manage Patches button. (This will only work if the
current update\service pack has not yet been applied to Land Desktop
2007).
-
Set the action type to Add to patch folder by using the action
type icon and selecting the popup menu choice.
-
Select the Update patch folder. This will download the update\service
pack from the Autodesk server, and make it available for other users
to access from the defined location.
-
- At the bottom of the CAD Manager utility, in the drop-down list, select
"Create .reg registry file". Then click OK.
- In the Save As dialog box, save the file to your system. Make note of
this location.
- The registry file is now ready to be made available to users.
- Install Updates from the Communication Center in Land Desktop 2007.
NOTE: Once the registry changes have been applied to the client,
the Communication Center in Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 will alert the
users with a "Maintenance Update Available" notice. When the
user clicks on the notice, a page will be displayed that says "Autodesk
Live Update." This page contains instructions, a description of
the patch, and an "Update" button that will start the patch
download and install.
Applying this Service Pack to an Autodesk Land
Desktop 2007 Network Administrative Image
The following two methods of distributing Autodesk Land Desktop Service
Pack 2 apply only to administrative images created with the Autodesk Land
Desktop 2007 Deployment wizard. After you complete these procedures, any
new deployments of Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 will have the service pack
applied to them automatically.
NOTE: In both of the following procedures, the service
pack file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file. You must
extract that file from the executable file. To extract the ASP file from the
executable, use the /e ("extract") switch.
To add Autodesk Land Desktop Service Pack 2 to a new Autodesk
Land Desktop 2007 administrative image
- From the Autodesk Product Support website, download LDT2007_SP2.exe
to your local computer.
- On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter the following information,
and then click OK to extract the ASP file.
<local drive>:\<patch name>\ /e <local drive>:\<patch
name.msp>
- On the computer where you installed the Deployment wizard, on the Start
menu (Windows), click Programs > Autodesk > Deployment Wizard.

location where you want to create an administrative image, or click Browse
to navigate to a location.

that all client machines have already been updated with the Service Pack 3.
Important: You cannot apply this Autodesk
Land Desktop Service Pack to an existing administrative image that already has
Service Pack 1, applied to it. In order to have an administrative image with
Service Pack 2 applied to it you must create a new administrative image and
apply Service Pack 2 to it. Service Pack 2 contains all the fixes that have
been released to date for Autodesk Land Desktop 2007.
- From the Autodesk Product Support website, download LDT2007_SP2.exe
