Information for Windows Vista and Windows 7 Users

When you apply Autodesk MapGuide Studio update while running Autodesk MapGuide Studio, it is recommended that you do not click the "Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete" option. Instead, close Autodesk MapGuide Studio manually, and press “Ignore” at the prompt. It is also recommended that you reboot your system after installing the update.

Before You Begin

Stop MapGuide Enterprise Server service and IIS or Apache service

Administrators should close all applications, especially any MapGuide Enterprise-related services, MapGuide Enterprise Server service and IIS/Apache before you apply this update.

Administrative Privileges

In order to apply this update, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.

About Your Product

After you install, product information displays in the About dialog box.

Reboot

After you install, it is recommended to reboot your system even if not prompted.

Installation Instructions

Apply Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise Server/Web Server Extension Update on Windows

Follow these instructions to install these updates on Windows OS.

1.  Download the update files and save them to any folder.

2.  Stop the Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise 2011 Service and the Web Server. 

3.  Find the folder where you saved the update and double-click the executable (EXE) file.

4.  Replace any overwritten configuration files listed in “Before You Begin” section.

5.  Restart your services and connect to the MapGuide Enterprise Site to confirm things are working.

Apply Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise Server/Web Server Extension Update on Linux

Follow these instructions to install these updates on Linux.

1.  Download the update files and save them to any folder.

  • mapguideenterprise2011-server-2.2.0.6001-1.i386.rpm
  • mapguideenterprise2011-webextension-2.2.0.6001-1.i386.rpm
  • fdo-3.5.0.60.tgz

NOTE Make sure that you download and install the correct Server and Web Extension Update files for your language, e.g. German, Japanese, French, etc. For example, if you are using the German version of MapGuide Enterprise, you should download the files mapguideenterprise2011deu-server-2.2.0.6001-1.i386.rpm and mapguideenterprise2011deu-webextension-2.2.0.6001-1.i386.rpm. The FDO Update file is not language-specific.

2.  Stop the MapGuide Enterprise 2011 Service and the Apache Server.

3.  Backup the Repositories folder from the /opt/Autodesk/mapguideenterprise2011/server/ folder to another director outside the Autodesk subdirectories such as /tmp. The new install should overwrite the current repository, but the backup is just a precaution.

4.  Confirm the version of MGE installed by executing:
  • rpm -qa | grep mapguide
5.  Uninstall the MapGuide 2011 Web Extensions by executing:
  • rpm -e mapguideenterprise2011-webextension-2.2.0.5305-1
6.  Uninstall the MapGuide 2011 Server by executing:
  • rpm -e mapguideenterprise2011-server-2.2.0.5305-1
  • Modify the versions above as needed

7.  Navigate to /usr/local/fdo-3.5.0 and uninstall FDO by executing:

  • ./uninstall

8.  Navigate to the folder where the new install files were copied to.

9.  Extract the FDO files by executing:
  • tar -xzvf fdo-3.5.0.60.tgz
10. cd to the fdo-3.5.0.60 folder and execute:
  • ./install

11. To extract the Server and Web Extension files execute the following:

  • ./ mapguideenterprise2011-server-2.2.0.6001-1.i386-rpm.bin
  • ./ mapguideenterprise2011-webextension-2.2.0.6001-1.i386-rpm.bin
  • Enter yes when prompted to accept the license agreements.

12. To install the Server execute the following:

  • rpm -ivh mapguideenterprise2011-server-2.2.0.6001-1.i386.rpm

13. To install the Web Extensions execute the following:

  • rpm -ivh mapguideenterprise2011-webextension-2.2.0.6001-1.i386.rpm

14. Replace any overwritten configuration files as outlined in “Before You Begin” section.

15. Restart the services and connect to the MapGuide Enterprise Site to confirm things are working.

Apply Autodesk MapGuide Studio Update on Windows

Follow these instructions to install this updates on Windows.

1.  Download the update files and save them to any folder.
  • MGStudio2011Update1.exe
2.  Exit Autodesk MapGuide Studio. 

3.  Find the folder where you saved the update and double-click the executable (EXE) file.

4.  Restart your services and start Autodesk MapGuide Studio.

Uninstall This Update

Windows XP and Windows Server 2003

1.    From the Start menu (Windows), click Settings > Control Panel.

2.    In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

3.    In the Add or Remove Programs window, select the Show Updates option.

4.    Find the appropriate update in the list of programs. Click Remove.

Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008

1.    From the Start menu (Windows), click Control Panel.

2.    Click Programs.

3.    Click Programs and Features.

4.    In the Programs and Features window, in the left pane, click View Installed Updates.

5.    Find the appropriate update in the list of updates. Click Uninstall.
