This readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this update. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply the update to your licensed copy of Autodesk® Quantity Takeoff 2010. For reference, you should save this readme to your hard drive or print a copy.

This update can be used with the following operating systems:
When applying this update while running Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010, it is recommended that you do not click the "Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete" option. Instead, before you install this update, close Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010 manually.
The following defects have been fixed in Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010 Update 1:
GAEB
Hotfixes
- GAEB catalog import does not always create the full Item or Group name.
- GAEB quantities export does not always export the values using a period "." as the decimal separator.
Localized Versions
Hotfixes
- Cannot import Catalogs into localized version of QTO.
- Units for Assembly components are not imported for all unit types (Area, Volume, etc.) when working with a localized versions of QTO.
Legend
- Legend can't be positioned after show, move and undo/redo.
- Legend position is not correct after operations of move, hide and show.
- Legend doesn't display after copying sheet.
- Cannot activate legends on sheets created with PDF.
- Cannot create Legend in certain files.
License
- Cannot borrow a network license.
3D Models
Use OpenGL to display 3D model as default. Switch to DirectX by adding a reg key (REG_DWORD) with value of 2:
For Windows® XP: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Design Review\Preferences\User Interface\AQTO Hoops Driver.
For Windows Vista®: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AppDataLow\Software\Autodesk\Design Review\Preferences\User Interface\AQTO Hoops Driver.- Some 3D Model files cannot be opened.
- QTO will hang when opening certain 3D DWF files.
Opening Projects
- Assertion Failed warning dialog appears when opening some projects.
Windows 7
- ADOX file load error on Windows 7.
- QTO not working on Windows 7.
Miscellaneous
- Item's thickness setting is lost after copy/paste, and cannot be modified for the pasted item.
- Data lost: Print model result is different compared to what is shown in Canvas.
- The takeoff value shown in the “Takeoff” panel is not refreshed automatically.
- The units "t" and "kg" are not exported in the catalog.
As you prepare to install this update, keep the following in mind:
Administrative Privileges
During installation, you may be prompted for the original installation media or a network image. In order to apply this update, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.
Product media
Under some circumstances, you may be asked to provide the original installation source. If you installed Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010 from the DVD, you will be asked to insert the disk during installation of the update. Please have the disk available before starting.
If you downloaded and installed Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010 from the web and later deleted the extracted files (Installed by default to Program Files\Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010\Download), the update will not be able to continue. In that case, you should follow the below procedure:
- Obtain the Web download file and save it to your computer.
- Double click the download file and allow it to extract its files, noting where they are being saved.
- When the Autodesk Quantity Takeoff Installer screen appears, click "Cancel".
- Continue with update installation as described in the Installation Instructions.
Backup Custom Files
Back up all customized files such as KeyboardShortcuts.txt before starting.
Network Deployment
Special command line switches are available for administrators. The full list can be obtained by running the update with the /? Switch.
/rc - Updates central content for the indicated deployment. Run this from the Program folder of the installed product.
Example: Autodesk_Quantity_Takeoff_2010_Update1.exe /rc /q - Suppresses the completion message after this update is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file to apply this update to multiple computers.
/e - Extracts the MSP file from the update executable.
Follow these instructions to install this update on a single computer.
At this time it is not possible to "Merge" this update to a network Administrative Image created using the Deployment Wizard.
Note: This update cannot be uninstalled to revert Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010 to its pre-update state. If you need to remove the update, please uninstall Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2010 and then reinstall it.
