In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released Service Pack 1 for Autodesk Simulation 2012, which fixes or addresses a variety of issues pertaining to the program. This file highlights how to install the service pack and what has been fixed.

Install only the bit-type version of Autodesk Simulation 2012 Service Pack 1 that corresponds to the bit-type version of your installation of Autodesk Simulation 2012.
For deployed installations, append the Service Pack to your existing deployment image instead of merging it, as suggested for all service pack releases.
In case you are prompted for the original installation disc or network image during installation, or uninstallation, keep them readily accessible.
There are no Client Updates associated with this service pack release.

On English operating systems, if you install Autodesk Simulation 2012 under a path with non-English characters, it does not launch.
On certain installations on 64bit Linux distributions, some 32bit system libraries, which are required to run Autodesk Simulation, are missing. To include the missing libraries, install the appropriate RPM packages.
On some Windows 7 and Vista operating systems, when uninstalling Autodesk Simulation 2012, Windows Explorer shuts down.

Autodesk Simulation 2012 SP1 supports Windows 7 32bit, Windows 7 64bit, Vista 32bit SP2, Vista 64bit SP2, XP 32bit SP3, XP 64bit SP2, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Linux. If your operating system does not meet these requirements, please update it before you begin the installation.
Verify that you have administrator privileges on your local machine to install Autodesk Simulation 2012 SP1.
For Windows Vista installations, disable the User Account Control feature.
For Windows 7 installation, in the User Account Control settings, select Never Notify Me.
The 32-bit version of Autodesk Simulation 2012 Service Pack 1 is approximately 35 MB in size. A minimum of 80 MB of free disk space is required on the drive where your temporary files are directed.
The 64-bit version of Autodesk Simulation 2012 Service Pack 1 is approximately 55 MB in size. A minimum of 120 MB of free disk space is required on the drive where your temporary files are directed.

To install Autodesk Simulation 2012 SP1:

Uninstall Autodesk Simulation 2012 Beta if you installed it previously.
Install Autodesk Simulation 2012.
Update your operating system before installing Autodesk Simulation 2012 Service Pack 1, and reboot if required.
Download the appropriate version of Autodesk Simulation 2012 Service Pack 1. (32-bit or 64-bit version, depending upon the bit-type of your operating system).
Double click the .msp file to update Autodesk Simulation 201 Service Pack 1. A progress bar displays while the installer updates the files on your system.
When the installation is done, click Finish.
If required, reboot the system after the service pack installation is finished.

To verify the installation was successful, start Autodesk Simulation 2012. On the Help menu, select About. If the About box displays: Build 2011.01.01.nnnn, the installation was successful.

Browser

If Highlight Associated Objects is turned on, and you click Global in the browser, Autodesk Simulation locks up for a long time.
General Surface-to-Surface contact command is not available when you right-click a Contact node in the browser.

Fatigue

Fatigue analysis fails to import the Poisson's Ratio of the materials.

FEA Editor

An error occurs when adding Nodal Moment.

Frequency Response

Performance of Frequency Response analysis is sometimes slow.
The results of Frequency Response are incorrect when a model is defined with more than one index of exciting frequency.

Globalization

Some strings are not translated for Japanese regional settings.

Local Coordinate System (LCS)

Creating and cancelling a new LCS in Results Environment leaves a dummy LCS behind.
The deleted LCS is restored after copying a new Design Scenario in the FEA Editor.
Graphics are corrupted on Win7 in the Results Environment when defining an LCS.
Crash occurs when you close Autodesk Simulation after using the Interactive button in the dialog box for creating a new LCS.

Material

Properties for orthotropic materials from custom libraries are displayed as zero.

Mechanical Event Simulation (MES)

Autodesk Simulation crashes when saving the restart data by N steps in MES.
Decoder does not work properly in MES in some cases.
Cannot edit "Material axis direction" of a Shell element in MES.

Mesh

CER: Error occurs when midplane meshing a model with user defined mesh size.

Navigation Tools

Zoom Area command zooms in incorrectly on a model.

UI

Rotate about vertex does not snap to the construction vertex.
Top part of the Ribbon UI is cut off when it is positioned on left or right.
Some buttons and icons do not work properly on Ribbon UI and Quick Access Toolbar.

Vault

Ribbon panels disappear when you check in files into Vault server.
