In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released Autodesk Vault 2010 Update 2 (Client) and Autodesk Vault 2010 Update 2 (Server) for Autodesk Vault 2010, Autodesk Vault Workgroup 2010, Autodesk Vault Collaboration 2010, and Autodesk Vault Professional 2010 which fixes or addresses a variety of issues pertaining to those releases. This README file highlights how to install the Update, what has been fixed, and how to download the update.
DOWNLOAD LOCATION
Locate the Autodesk Vault 2010 Update 2 files at:
INSTALLATION
- All clients and servers need to be upgraded at the same time to the Autodesk Vault 2010 Update 2
- All future Vault 2010 hotfixes will depend on this Update being installed
- This update will install on Vault 2010 and Vault 2010 Update 1
- Depending on how your UAC is configured on Windows Vista or later operating systems, user may need to turn off User Access Control (UAC) to install the Update
- For Items users, after installing Update 2 on ADMS Server perform 'Item to File Link Migration' using the ItemFileLinkMigration utility (included in the download zip)
WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions properly may result in unusable sites. This procedure applies to Single Site and Multi Site deployments.
NOTE: Always ensure that a successful backup has been performed before applying any hotfix or update.
Update 2 Installation – applied to every Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS)
- Open the ADMS Console
- Make sure all databases are fully migrated to the latest version
- Migrate all unmigrated databases and libraries before proceeding
- Close the ADMS Console application
- Restart the web service by typing 'iisreset' at the command prompt
- Run AutodeskVault2010Update2(Server).msp on the ADMS server to install the update
- DO NOT OPEN ADMS – DATABASE MIGRATION SHOULD BE POSTPONED UNTIL THE FINAL STEP
- Repeat the preceding steps for every ADMS server
- DO NOT OPEN ADMS – DATABASE MIGRATION SHOULD BE POSTPONED UNTIL THE FINAL STEP
Database Update – applied ONCE from one Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) instance as specified
- WARNING: DO NOT PROCEED until Update 2 has been successfully applied on ALL ADMS servers
- Use one instance of the ADMS Console on
- Single Site
- Multi Site (file replication)
- Restart the web service by typing 'iisreset' at the command prompt
- Open the ADMS Console and perform the database migration
SUMMARY OF ISSUES ADDRESSED
- Open from Vault client overwrites local modified copy
- Edit properties on multi-selection causes a crash
- Property write back to title block creates custom iProperties instead of updating titleblock
- Property set to "Not In Use" during a re-index.
- No response from Vault client while Assign Item operation is running
- Assembly linked to wrong sub assembly file version after a Move file operation
- Updating Items is slower after migrating from Vault 2009
- Cannot edit item properties on secondary links or standard component links
- Cannot update certain Items
- Updating Vault client grid is slow
- Migration failures and errors
- Always auto-assigning User Defined Properties to the Base category during migration
- Grid population is slow, searching is slow
- Error during basic search when searching file content
- File Grid Population is slow when a large number of files are in the folder
