Deployment Error Hotfix

This hotfix will correct a problem creating a Multi-Seat Standalone Deployment using the Network Installation Wizard for an AutoCAD® 2006 or 2007-based product on a system running Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7.

Description of Problem

If you have upgraded to Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7, then any attempt to create a Multi-Seat Standalone Deployment for an AutoCAD 2006 or 2007-based product will fail.

Affected Products

(1) This fix applies only if you are planning to deploy AutoCAD Mechanical 2006 or 2007 or Autodesk Mechanical Desktop 2006 or 2007.
(2) This fix applies only if you are planning to deploy AutoCAD 2006 or 2007.

Registry Backup Instructions

To backup your registry before installing the Deployment Error Hotfix

You must have administrative privileges on your Microsoft® Windows® operating system to complete the backup process.

Note: It is recommended that you backup the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl section of your registry before applying this hotfix. If you are uncomfortable editing the registry, then ask your system administrator to complete these steps for you.
  1. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run.
  2. Enter REGEDIT to launch the Windows Registry Editor.
  3. In the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl.
  4. On the FeatureControl node right-click menu, click Export.
  5. Create and/or select a location for exporting this file; for example, C:\ACAD\Registry Backup.
  6. Apply a unique name to the file. Click Save.

Installation Instructions

To install the Deployment Error Hotfix

  1. Close all applications and log in as Administrator.
  2. Download the file to a location on your local computer.
  3. Open and extract IE7fix_reg32-bit.reg from the downloaded .zip file to a location on your local computer.
  4. Find and double-click the IE7fix_reg32-bit.reg file that you downloaded.
  5. Click Yes when prompted, "Are you sure you want to add this information..."

    A message will indicate when your product(s) have been successfully updated.

Note: To restore the registry, navigate to the folder that was used to backup the registry in Step 5 of the Registry Backup Instructions and double-click the backup file you created to restore it.
