Saving to Clip Libraries

You can save the following items from the EditDesk to the current clip library:

NoteYou cannot save to read-only libraries.

To save an item to a clip library:

  1. Select the items you want to save.

Select clips directly on the EditDesk, or use the EditDesk list to select a combination of clips, folders, and record and source areas.

TipClick the All item in the EditDesk list to select the entire content of the EditDesk.
  2. From the Clip Library box, select the clip library in which you want to save the item.
  3. Click Save Selected.

A message appears indicating that the item was saved successfully. A warning appears if an item with an identical name already exists in the clip library. You have three choices (click anywhere but on one of the three options to abort the save).

    Select: To:
Add Create the new entry, giving you two items with the same name.
Replace Replace the item in the clip library with the item being saved.
Skip Not save the listed item, and then procede to save the next item (in the case of a multi-selection).
NoteA Record Area can have the same name as a Source Area.
NoteWhen you save an unmodified source clip to the library, if there is a comment applied to the video element, this comment is visible in the library. The video element comment can be entered on the EditDesk, or in the EDL Import module.
TipIf you are used to select what to save using an option box (pre-Smoke 2012), use the following table to accomplish the same results.
Previously Selected Option: Select from the EditDesk List:
Record Area The record area marked with View.
Source Area The source area marked with View.
Entire EditDesk The source and record areas marked with View.
EditDesk Library The All item.
