This README file highlights how to install the patch, what has been fixed, and how to download the update. ================================================================================ CONTENTS ========= - Installation Instructions - Summary of issues addressed by this Service Pack - Service Pack Download Location ================================================================================ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ========================= NOTE: This patch update applies to all flavors of Autodesk Inventor 11. (1) Download the Autodesk Inventor 11 Service Pack 2 patch file "Inventor11_SP2.msp" **You must have Administrator privileges on your local machine to install Autodesk Inventor 11 Service Pack 2** (2) Double-click on the downloaded file to start the install. You will also have a progress meter on your screen while the setup program is updating the files on your system. Click Finish when done. (3) If requested, please reboot your system after the service pack is installed. *For final verification, from within Autodesk Inventor, select "About Autodesk Inventor" from the Help menu. If Autodesk Inventor 11 Service Pack 2 has been successfully installed, the About box displays: "Build: 344a, Release: 11 SP2 Date: Fri 08/18/2006." =============================================================================== Summary of issues addressed in Autodesk Inventor 11 Service Pack 2 include: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: CER stands for Crash Error Report AUTODESK INVENTOR PROFESSIONAL 11 - MODULES =========================================== CABLE & HARNESS =============== Fixed the following issues: - Refdes information may be missing for migrated R8 harness. - Legacy connector gender information may not be retrieved correctly when harness assembly is activated. - Crash on resizing Nailboard table after changing its text style and reopening the Nailboard. - Fail to create Nailboard for an iAssembly using pull method if the assembly is not open. - Crash on unsuppressing harness part from its property dialog. TUBE & PIPE =========== Fixed the following issues: - Description field in published hose conduit iPart is overridden after population. - There may be a warning message against Nominal Size during placing fitting on a route even if the fitting has the same Nominal Size with the route style - Fitting preview arrow may disappear during Connect Fitting command if the mouse cursor is over a flexible hose route sketch. - The speed of getting out of route environment without editing could be very slow if there are many routes in a T&P assembly. - Hose route may cause top assembly always out of date if it is connected to a part under top assembly directly STRESS ANALYSIS =============== Fixed the following issues: - Contours were displayed in top assembly if the "last displayed stress result item" was executed in a part that was edited in the context of the assembly. - Loading AIPStressAddinServers impacts the capacity of Assemblies. DYNAMIC SIMULATION ================== Fixed the following issues: - Simulation results file (*.iaa) can become out of sync in some workflows checking in and out of Autodesk Vault. - Crash checking in and out when *.iaa files are out of sync with Autodesk Vault. - RL Cone on Cone joint origin will not be placed correctly after editing the joint and selecting origin reference. - Unable to Weld two components together if one is grounded in the Inventor Assembly. - "Text Properties" dialog had garbage characters. - Some disabled context menu functions become enabled after using "Reset All" in the toolbar customization. - A false moment load can be exported to Stress Analysis in the Sliding Cylinder on Plane joint. - Spring graphics are left behind (in old time-step position) when activating construction mode. - For all 2D contact joints, the parent part is not blocked for Export to FEA when it should be. - In construction mode, if you click on "Deactivate screen refresh during a simulation", all viewing commands are blocked. - Editing a RL Cylinder Curve joint displays incorrect dialog. - Save copy as doesn't create a new *.iaa file if the simulation has been saved before. - Save copy as doesn't create a *.iaa if a new assembly is created and not saved. - Some Joints can become de-activated when using the Unknown Force feature. - Unable to drag and move parts with the cursor if screen refresh during simulation is deactivated. - Crash when opening an in-place edited part in it’s own window and undoing the open. - Inertia precision problems when changing geometry of part in RL cylinder on plane joint. - Unable to export to FEA when an inactive contact joint is present. - Activating construction mode after dismissing an error dialog results in the initial position as being the one active when the error dialog was displayed. - Degraded performance when dragging a part if the Vault add-in was loaded. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AUTODESK INVENTOR 11 ==================== API === Fixed the following issues: - Error editing a sketch symbol created via the API. - Add project for an assembly with missing references displays the "reference document cannot be found" dialog. - Crash when adding a sketched symbol many times using the C++ API. - Column widths are not honored during custom table creation. - The methods "RevolveFeatures.AddByAngle" and "RevolveFeatures.AddFull" only work in the version of Autodesk Inventor they were compiled in. - Table content disappears when saving and reopening a drawing after changing textstyle. Resizing the table border would lead to a crash. - Performance degradation from Autodesk Inventor 10 in the property API. - DXF output ignores layer names. - The default value is displayed instead of custom value for iPart member. - CER: crash when editing an extrude feature. - CER: crash in crxselectevents::getdatacommon. - CER: crash when assembly events are undone. - Error placing an instance of an iPart in assembly. - Unable to set vertical justification property for textbox object. - Crash calling browsernodes function. - StartTransaction command fails when editing an assembly. - The Tolerance.SetToFits method does not use the Shaft tolerance if the hole tolerance is set to "N/A". ASSEMBLY MODELING ================= Fixed the following issues: - Crash when BOM changes are saved in an in-place edited subassembly after setting the top level assembly LOD representation to AllPartsSuppressed. - Deleting the source file has different behavior in a derived assembly than in a derived part - CER: crash on invoking copy viewrep to lodrep - Crash applying an assembly constraint on sheetmetal components - Assembly file with few components gets relatively large causing slow performance. - Saving a positional change in top level assembly prompts for the sub assembly to also be saved. - General system failure mirroring components when using reuse option. - iParts & iAssemblies toolbar can not be docked. - Error message when deriving an assembly for specific values of an angular constraint. - In some cases, assembly files fail to open during migration. - Demote operation fails when one of the parts contains a cross part projected loop. - Illogical part number merging in BOM of iParts. - Cross-part projection failed because part was mistakenly marked as being adaptive in another assembly. - CER: crash when clicking top level's "origin" node in the browser panel. - CER: crash when clicking cancel button in drive constraint dialog when in the middle of measure command. - CER: in some cases, Autodesk Inventor locks up when mirroring an assembly. - Crash during "copy to level of detail" command on a view representation. - "RSE clone error" when demoting components. - Crash if the mirror operation on an assembly is undone and repeated. - CER: crash when canceling presentation animation. - CER: in some cases opening presentation would fail. - CER: crash in some cases when attempting to resolve files. - Crash when trying to drive a constraint. - Crash activating all components suppressed when a pattern in a subassembly is turned off. - Design view representation cannot control workfeature visibility. - Crash after deleting fillet, undoing, then deleting fillet again. - In some cases, saving an assembly, reopening and moving EOF node above an assembly feature would cause a crash. - Positional representation fails to remain in proper position. - In some cases, feature nodes below derived assembly are removed after migration. - Crash when unchecking suppress from the harness part's property dialog. - Crash when suppressing any part in subassembly in the engine sample. - CER: crash when using "Copy component" command on a sub assembly. - Standard parts get mirrored in any assembly although reuse option is set. - In some cases assembly files fail on update. - In some cases, rebuild all causes Autodesk Inventor to hang. - CER:crash when using command "find in browser". - CER: in some cases, crash when creating or deleting a constraint. - CER: crash when updating the browser. - Unable to record an animation with "custom profile". - CER: crash when updating circular component pattern. - CER: crash when updating/solving constraints. - CER: crash when updating constraint selection. - CER: crash undoing a tweak creation in presentation. - CER: crash when creating an LOD representation after creating a drawing of the assembly. - Adaptive flag is reset when a Save Copy As is performed while editing a component in the context of the assembly. - Graphics in presentation file disappears after parts are suppressed. - Crash on inserting a new sheet metal part. - CER: crash when doing a rebuild all on an Autodesk Inventor 11 vaulted assembly that contains R10 parts and has all components suppressed. - Crash when mirroring a part with a face/full round fillet when the "Open in new window" option is used. - Design doctor does not report errors in some cases. - Cannot edit iProperties of custom iParts from the assembly BOM editor. - Crash when the creation of tangent arcs by dragging the end point of a line is undone. - Crash when saving with "yes to all" in an LOD of a nested assembly while a drawing of the master LOD is open. - Sub assembly disappears in top assembly when switching LODs. - Wrong browser icon and context menu when the creation of LOD for a sub assembly is undone and redone. This sometimes also resulted in a crash. - CER: crash creating assembly extrusion to a cylindrical face. - Crash when suppressing virtual component pattern in an assembly that is not yet saved. - Crash when an assembly is opened with the master LOD or "all content center suppressed" LOD. - "Save Copy As" shouldn't cause other open LODs to refresh. - Crash on deleting the cylinder which was used for circular pattern axis. - CER: crash when launching parameter dialog that has a user parameter linked to an unresolved part. - Crash when editing a sick constraint in assembly using modeling view in browser. - Crash when switching between iAssembly factory members when the members have updates pending. - Crash when viewing the properties of participants of assembly features. - CER: crash when applying 'pattern component' in a LOD of a particular large assembly. - Can't turn on the part's invisible workfeature in its parent assembly. - Crash in some cases when saving assembly files. CONTENT CENTER ============== Fixed the following issues: - Current length for custom parts is missing within change size, instead only a default length is used. - Crash when using Autodrop to place hex nut on screw which had its size changed. - Data missing in R11 key columns after migration. - Mapping of properties in the table editor did not work. - Wrong cell value when copying rows with comma as the system decimal separator. - Mapping table column to custom property did not retain the custom property. - Publishing an iPart with workfeature caused Autodesk Inventor to hang. - Crash when placing a pipe from Content Center after editing its family table - Unable to use strings to search by in the advanced tab of the advanced search in Content Center. - Unable to use migrated beam library. - Newly published parts are not usable in Tube & Pipe style definition. - CER: crash when placing from content center. - Crash when opening the Content Center in a project containing migrated styles. - Unable to instance migrated custom component which contains property mappings. - CER: crash accessing materials in migrated libraries. - Placing from content center when using custom material library causes crash in German Inventor - Errors when inserting published fittings. - Random crashes using Autodrop. - Failed to insert Content Center part from Autodesk Inventor 11 if the part already exists in the library folder from Autodesk Inventor 10. - Refresh was not working after copying family to read-writable library. - Unavailable library in project definition caused a crash when placing from Content Center. - Unable to overwite property description. - Wrong icons being used for categories in favorites panel. - "Replace All" on standard parts only replaces the selected one. - Filename, Designation and Nominal Size are missing after successful publish of Tube & Pipe authored non-iParts. - Crash when trying to publish feature to an unattached feature library. - Unable to instance family members published with suppressed features. - Unable to import and update custom library from Autodesk Inventor 10 to Autodesk Inventor 11. - Family dialog does not show the comma delimiter on select tab. - Crash when using the update tool on multiple custom libraries. DESIGN ACCELERATOR, FRAME GENERATOR, INVENTOR STUDIO ==================================================== Fixed the following issues: - Bolts are too long when using a domed cap nut. - Bolts with diameters larger than the hole are not filtered out when selecting by hole. - Automatic solve didn't work for categories. - Crash multi-selecting browser entries when rebuilding profiles in frame generator. - Browser entries disappear when a part file opened in the context of an assembly is switched to Inventor Studio, closed and reopened. - Animation timeline keys lost after migration to Autodesk Inventor 11. DRAWING MANAGER =============== Fixed the following issues: - Option to change the "ordinate dimension window select" to R10 behavior - edit your registry and find the "OrdinateDimSelectGeometry" key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion11.0\Applets\DrawingLayout\Preferences\DrawingFormat Change the "OrdinateDimSelectGeometry" value from 1 to 0 to revert back to the R10 behavior. - The text editor can now be resized. - Double click functionality to place a balloon is not available. - CER: Crash when deleting unattached dimensions. - Conversion of legacy Parts List results in loss of expanded rows. - Dimension value does not update when you move the dimension from one hole to another hole. - Parts list sort does not work on part number column. - Balloons attached to migrated assembly views loose associativity when detached and reattached to another component. - CER: Crash deleting sketch lines. - CER: Crash when selecting a centerline. - When Hole diameter is bigger than 500 mm, hole tolerance j6 to j8 and shaft tolerance j5 to j8 were missing. - CER: Crash selecting bearings in general dimension command. - All dimensions appear at the same location when dragging ordinate dimensions. - Cannot explicitly specify origin point for ordinate dimension sets. - Cannot place origin indicator at virtual intersection of edges for hole tables. - CER: Crash when creating hole table from a view that has tangent edges enabled. - CER: Crash creating hatch fill. - Parts list references the iPart factory when the source file is a custom iPart member. - "%%c "does not create a diameter symbol in the description field of a parts list. - CER: Crash changing dimension style when in Ordinate dimension preview mode. - CER: Crash in some cases when deleting views. - CER: Crash when updating views of large assembly. - CER: Crash deleting and suppressing components in the assembly and switching back to the drawing. - Invisible rows in a parts list are also exported when saved out to a text or csv file. - Exporting a parts list to text (tab delimited) produces a comma delimited file. - CER: Crash in some cases when editing a view. - CER: Crash when adding a prompted value to the title block. - Virtual component iProperties does not show in parts list upon opening drawing. - Hole table rolls up hole descriptions with different values. - Export of parts list to DBF 4 (dbase iv) is incorrect when the title contains a space or a dash "-". - Parts lists containing multi row columns are exported incorrectly to a CSV file(extra rows are exported). - CER Crash when recovering workfeatures. - CER: Crash when placing hole note on hole feature of a derived part. - Unable to export parts list as a Microsoft Access 2000 .mdb file. - Basic tolerance property is removed after dragging a dimension. - Re-attaching radius dimensions does not register correct value. - Cannot drag a dimension anchor point to a virtual intersection. - Linear model dimension precision does not update until the dimension is dragged manually. - CER: Crash when a style for the text is not found. - Crash when editing the text of a parameter in the title block. DWG/DWF/AEC Exchange ==================== Fixed the following issues: - Crash on DWGIN after TrueView 2007 is installed - AEC exchange add-in slows down 3D animation simulation - CER: Crash on DWGOUT if a sketch instance could not be found - DWG translation has missing lines and arcs GENERAL ======= Fixed the following issues: - CER: random crash when moving the mouse for graphics selection. - CER: Autodesk Inventor failed to start up after installing Productstream 5. - Parker content library in project causes exceptions in the vlog. - Sick entities are not displayed when opening unresolved drawing files if the graphics driver is set to Direct3D. - CER: crash edits to a sketch are undone. - "Enable creation of legacy project types" in Application Options are lost between consecutive startup of Autodesk Inventor. - CER: crash selecting bill of materials from the Parts List context menu and completing the command. - Crash after ground shadow is set. - Shared and semi isolated projects allow saving a checked out component. - CER: crash when clicking the second comment after entering some letters in the first comment in an engineering note. - Crash when cursor hovers over a note in the browser. - CER: crash when copying a design view representation to an LOD representation. - Adding a material to the styles library damages the styles library. - CER: crash when deleting view nodes. - iFeature migration fails and also parts containing the iFeature don't open. - The selection highlight color on view edges in drawings are no longer bright red but dark red. - Crash when creating an assembly using the cabling template. - CER: crash due to visiting the deleted smxscenenode - Crash saving as XGL. - CER: print preview for part file is wrong with Direct3D. - Changing a component’s name in the browser and copying that file, yields the wrong browser name in the copied part. - Crash when trying to open iProperties of an assembly feature participant. IGES/STEP/SAT ============= Fixed the following issues: - Copy to construction was allowed on sick surfaces leading to a crash in downstream operations. - Crash in some cases when importing STEP files. - Crash when opening IGES files containing centerline data. - CER: crash in some cases when opening IGES files. PART MODELING ============= Fixed the following issues: - "Non-Manifold" errors when unfolding sheetmetal parts in Autodesk Inventor 11. - Cannot create flat pattern for sheet metal if the delimiter is set to comma under the operating system regional settings. - Cannot remove adaptivity from a hole which has been created without a sketch. - Unfold method that uses a non-default K-factor gives incorrect unfolded length. - Punch tool containing invisible shared sketch will result in invisible punch feature. - In some cases, derived parts fail after migration to Autodesk Inventor 11. - Poor performance on opening parameter dialog with many parameters. - Error when starting parameters dialog. - Crash on clicking arrow button in hole dialog to perform measure during face input. - CER: crash in some cases when opening part files. - Unable to read bend table with values containing "period" as the delimiter if the regional setting has "comma" as the delimiter. - In some cases, punch features are invisible in the graphics. - Crash when canceling out of a punch tool insertion error. - iFeatures inserted using the punch tool are not oriented or centered correctly. - CER: runtime error creating flat pattern. - CER: crash editing a feature after an unfolder failure. - CER: file fails to open with schema migration error. - Autodesk Inventor hangs when creating a flat pattern with touching hems. - CER: crash creating a flat pattern using a pre-selected face. - Flanges disappear in the flat pattern when adding corner seams. - Crash in some cases when opening sheetmetal files from R10. - CER: crash in some cases opening sheetmetal parts using bend tables. - CER: crash when updating a derived sheetmetal part. - CER: crash when saving a flat pattern as a DWG/DXF file. - Crash opening a metric template sheetmetal part. - CER: in some cases runtime error and crash unfolding sheetmetal parts. - Update of parameter sketch text does no work correctly - Crash when editing a fitted textbox. - Cannot correctly measure the distance between two center axes. - Crash when you use the "Project flat pattern" command twice in a sketch. - In some cases, rebuilding R10 files in R11SP1 failed. - Vertical/horizontal sheetmetal alignment tools don't work if editing a part in a assembly. - Distance parameter name in the Move Face command does not stay the same on edit. - Crash when changing the move face type from planar move to direction distance. - Crash launching the parameters dialog. - Crash when filleting two edges created by 'coil'. ================================================================================== Notes: ====== Autodesk Inventor 11, Autodesk Inventor 11 Service Pack 1 and Autodesk Inventor 11 Service Pack 2 use the same file formats (.iam, .ipt, .idw, .ipn, .idv, .ide). All file types can be interchanged between these versions. The size of Autodesk Inventor 11 Service Pack 2 is approximately 30 MB.
