Issues Addressed by This Update

        Some projects cannot be opened in QTO and the message "The selected file is not a valid project file" displays.

        Switching between different sheets takes a very long time to complete.

        The memory consumption increases dramatically with "Snap to point" turned on.

        A dialog prompts to say "Not enough memory to continue" when saving some projects in QTO.

        QTO crashes after setting the display unit for one 3D model.

        Some model takeoff markup scales incorrectly on canvas if you zoom in to some extent.

        Some PDF files may be displayed in a wrong direction if they are copied for multiple versions and one of them is rotated.

        Exporting quantities with some 3rd party applications sometimes exports an XML file instead of an ATQ file.

        Formula 1 and Formula 2 are missing in the exported *.atq quantities file.

Enhancements and Guidelines

       To get better performance in QTO, here are some guidelines on project scale so that you will not experience "Not enough memory" exceptions:

o   The size of files imported into QTO is no more than 50MB.

o   The total number of the takeoff markup on all sheets is no more than 25,000.

       To reduce the risk of losing all your work, we have changed the behavior of the AutoSave feature: from "auto save in one project file" to "auto save separate projects in every interval", which you can setup as described below:

1.      Browse to Menu->Edit->Preference->Auto Save.

2.      Select "Enable Auto Save" to enable Auto Save.

3.      Set a proper interval, e.g. 30 minutes in the dropdown list.

4.      The backup files (with .bak extension) will be automatically put in the same folder as the original project file as soon as you set an interval. The backup file names will be organized as follows: For SampleProject.ato, the backup files will be named as, SampleProject_0001.bak, SampleProject_0002.bak, etc.

5.      To use a .bak file, rename it from *.bak to *.ato and open it in QTO.

Note Ensure that there is enough hard drive space required for enabling AutoSave.

       Add log track function to record UI operations:

1.      Browse to the Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2012 installation directory. E.g. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Quantity Takeoff 2012\.

2.      Open the diagnostics.ini file (which is newly added in this hotfix installation), and set "enabled" to 1, as shown below:

[Logging]

enabled=1

  "enabled=0" means that the log file will not be generated, this is the default setting.

  "enabled=1" means that the log file will be generated.

 If you want to customize the log file path, rewrite diagnostics.ini as follows:

[Logging]

enabled=1

path=C:\QTOLog

Path=? Is optional, it is used to specify the directory of log files. If no path is specified, log files will be generated at %temp%\Autodesk_Quantity_Takeoff_Logs, E.g.

  For XP PS: C:\Documents and Setting\[UserName]\Local Setting\Temp\Autodesk_Quantity_Takeoff_Logs;

  For Vista and Win7 OS: C:\Users\[UserName]\Local Setting\Temp\Autodesk_Quantity_Takeoff_Logs;

Note With log turned on, you may experience some performance degradation due to disk I/O for logging.
