Autodesk Map 3D 2007 Service Pack 3
In a continuing effort to provide high-quality products, Autodesk
has released Autodesk Map 3D 2007 Service Pack 3, which includes
fixes and addresses issues for Autodesk Map 3D 2007. Autodesk Map 3D 2007 Service Pack 3 includes SP1, SP2 and AutoCAD 2007 Service Pack 1.
This Readme contains the latest information regarding the installation
and use of this service pack. It is strongly recommended that you read this
entire document before you apply the service pack to your product. For your
reference, you should save this Readme to your hard drive or print a
copy.
Who Should Install the Service Pack?
Service Pack 3 is for Autodesk Map 3D 2007, in all languages, running on all supported operating systems. Service Pack 3 can be installed on any locked version of Autodesk Map 3D 2007.
Service Pack 3 may be applied to Autodesk Map 3D 2007, to Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2, or without any service packs.
Action Required
If You Are Installing This Service Pack with Autodesk Raster Design
After you install this service pack on a system with Autodesk Raster Design, you must do a Repair of Autodesk Raster Design 2007.
- Click Start Programs > Control Panel.
- Under Autodesk Raster Design 2007, click Change.
- Select Reinstall or Repair Autodesk Raster Design 2007.
- Click Next.
- Select Repair.
- Click Next twice.
You may be prompted to insert your original CD.
FDO Provider for Oracle Requires Specific Patch Files
Autodesk Map 3D 2007 now supports Oracle 10g R2. To work with Oracle 10g R2, you must use the Oracle 10g R2 Client and install the Oracle 10g R2.2 patch.
Note: The Oracle Workspace Manager (OWM) must be upgraded with Workspace Manager version 10.2.0.3.1 or higher.
You Must Clear Your Cache Files Before Applying this Service Pack
If you have cache data before you apply this service pack,
Autodesk Map may not work properly with those files if you do
not clear the cache. You must clear your cache files in order
for Autodesk Map to work properly.
Do the following to clear your cache files:
- Start Autodesk Map.
- Click Setup menu > Autodesk Map Options.
- In the Autodesk Map Options dialog box, select the System tab.
- Click Clear Cache.
- Click OK.
General Information
Before you apply this service pack, be sure to back up all custom CUI, MNR,
and MNL files.
During the installation of this service pack, you may be prompted
for the original installation CD or network image. Administrative
permissions are required to install, uninstall and apply service
packs.
Once this service pack is applied, you cannot run an automatic uninstall to
remove the service pack. Uninstall the product and reinstall to undo the service
pack changes.
The service pack may also be deployed by Administrators over the network using
the Network Installation wizard.
Primary Issues Resolved for Autodesk Map 3D 2007 Service Pack

Service Pack 3 includes more than 40 fixes with significant improvements in the following key areas:
- Stability issues reported with the Customer Error Reporting (CER) utility.
- Memory consumption issues.
- Improved label display.
- Improved performance for RDBMS data stores sccessed via FDO.
General Updates
Other changes included in this service pack include the following updates.
- MAPPIINSERT no longer resets drawing units to inches
- Support for Oracle 10g R2
Performance Improvement
- Numerous issues that significantly improve the overall performance of Autodesk Map 3D 2007 have been addressed in this service pack.

The command line switches supported by this service pack are as follows:

in the procedures that follow.
Apply This Service Pack to a Stand-Alone Installation
Follow these instructions to install a service pack on an individual computer.
To update a stand-alone installation
- Download the service pack and save it to any folder.
- Navigate to the folder where you saved the service pack and double-click the EXE
file.
Configure a local patch list
Requirements
- Autodesk Map 3D 2007 must be installed on the system used
to do the configuration.
- Current Update must not be applied to Map 3D 2007.
- CAD Manager Control Utility 4.0 must be installed.
Steps to create the local patch list
- Create a folder on your local system and share it.
- Launch the CAD Manager Control Utility.
- For Product select Autodesk Map 3D 2007.
- On the Communication Center tab select "Receive Live Updates from local network" from the drop-down list.
- Navigate to the folder you created in step 1 using the UNC path. The patchlist.npl file will be created automatically.
- Select the Manage Patches button. (This will only work if the current update has not yet been applied to Autodesk Map 3D 2007).
- Click the Action type icon and select the Add to patch folder.
- Select the Update patch folder. The update will download automatically from the Autodesk server, and
make it available for other users to access from the defined
location.
- Click Close.
- At the bottom of the CAD Manager utility, in the drop-down list, select "Create .reg registry file".
- Click OK.
- In the Save As dialog box, name and save the file to the shared folder you created.
- Install Updates from the Communication Center in Map 3D 2007.
Now you can apply the service patch with the local patch list you just created.
The registry file is now ready to be made available to users.
Apply this Service Pack to Autodesk Map 3D 2007
The following two methods of distributing the Autodesk Map 3D 2007 Service
Pack 3 apply only to administrative images created
with the Autodesk Network Installation wizard. After you complete these
procedures, any new deployments of Autodesk Map 3D 2007 will have the service
pack applied to them automatically.
NOTE: In both of the following procedures, the patch (service
pack) file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file. You must
extract that file from the executable file. To extract the MSP file from the
executable, use the /e ("extract") switch.
To add Autodesk Map 3D 2007 Service Pack 3 to a new Autodesk
Map 3D 2007 Administrative Image
- From the Autodesk Product Support web site, download the
EXE to your local computer.
- On the Start menu (Windows), click Run and enter <local drive:>\<patch
name> /e <local drive:>\<patch name.msp>
Click OK.
- On the computer where you installed the Network Installation wizard, on
the Start menu (Windows), click Autodesk > Network Installation Wizard.
- On the Welcome page of the Network Installation wizard, select Create An
Administrative Image, and click Next.
- On the Create An Administrative Image page, in the Select Autodesk Installer
(MSI) File box, enter the path to acadmap.msi, the MSI file you use as
the basis for your administrative image. This file is found on your product
CD-ROM, in CDROM:\Bin\AcadFeui.
- In the Administrative Image Location box, enter an existing shared network
location where you want to create an administrative image, or click Browse
to navigate to a location. Users install Autodesk Map from this location.
- Select the Apply A Patch (Service Pack) To This Image option.
- In the Select Patch box, enter the path to the patch location (the location
you entered in step 2, including the extension .msp). You can also
Browse to locate the MSP file.
- Click Next, and follow the instructions in the Network Installation wizard
to complete the deployment of this service pack.
To apply Autodesk Map 3D 2007 Service Pack 3 to an existing
Autodesk Map 3D 2007 Administrative Image
- From the Autodesk Product Support web site, download the
EXE to your local computer.
- On the Start menu (Windows), click Run and enter <local drive:>\<patch
name> /e <local drive:>\<patch name.msp>
. Click OK.
- On the computer where you installed the Network Installation wizard, on
the Start menu (Windows), click Autodesk > Network Installation Wizard.
- On the Welcome page of the Network Installation wizard, select Modify An
Administrative Image, and click Next.
- On the Modify An Administrative Image page, in the Select An MSI File box,
select an existing Autodesk installer file (MSI) from an existing shared network
location that contains the administrative image you want to modify. Users
install Autodesk Map 3D from this location.
- Select the Apply A Patch (Service Pack) To This Image option.
- In the Select Patch box, enter the path to the patch location (the location
you entered in step 2, including the extension .msp). You can also
Browse to locate the MSP file.
- Click Next, and follow the instructions in the Network Installation wizard
to complete the deployment of this service pack.
NOTE: You cannot apply a service pack to
an Administrative Image that already has a service pack applied. You will need to recreate the Administrative Image with the latest service pack.
