            Notice to Productstream Compass 5 and 2005 Customers

In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released this Hotfix for Productstream Compass 2005, PSC5 and PSC5 with Service Pack 1a, which fixes a possible loss of the most current file version due to file replication.

Download and installation is only required and reasonable in replicated PS Compass environments.


This README file highlights how to download and install the HotFix and what has been fixed.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=========================


NOTE: Autodesk strongly recommends backing up the Productstream Compass installation PRIOR to installing this HotFix.

To install this HotFix:

(1) Download the Productstream Compass HotFix file "repl-fix20060928.zip".

(2) Make a backup copy of your Productstream Compass Server subdirectory.

(3) Extract the files of the downloaded ZIP directly to the Productstream Compass Server root directory allowing overwrite of existing files and using folder names.
    The files bonus\dbp\replikator.DBP and etc\replicator.DBQ will be replaced.

(4) The action has to be repeated for all replicator sites.

Summary of issues addressed in Productstream Compass HotFix include:

The HotFix addresses the following issue:

	In some cases the file replicator may have problems accessing the target data area (e.g. missing read/write permission, file in use by others), prohibiting files to be updated in the destination file store.
		
	This could lead to the following problem:

	Unnoticeable to the user the intended update of a file may fail. Especially when the ownership of a file is supposed to be transferred, also known as "Transfer Original", this failure may lead to the loss of the newest file version, because the ownership was transferred anyway.
