Thank you for downloading Service Pack 5 for Autodesk® Robot Structural Analysis 2012 & Autodesk® Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2012.

This readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this Service Pack. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply the update to your licensed copy of the product.

Contents

This service pack is for the following Autodesk products running on all supported operating systems. It includes Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2, Service Pack 3 and Service Pack 4 and may be applied to any licensed software copy with or without these Service Packs installed.
If you install the Service Pack manually, be sure to download the correct service pack file depending on your software version.

Apply This Service Pack

Follow these instructions to install this service pack.

  1. Download the update and save it to any folder.
  2. Find the folder where you saved the update and double-click the executable (EXE) file.
  3. If required, insert the product media (for example, the Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2012 installation disc).

Uninstall This Service Pack

Windows XP

  1. From the Start menu (Windows), click Settings > Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. In the Add or Remove Programs window, select the Show Updates option.
  4. Find the appropriate update in the list of programs. Click Remove.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

  1. From the Start menu (Windows), click Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs.
  3. Click Programs and Features.
  4. In the Programs and Features window, in the left pane, click View Installed Updates.
  5. Find the appropriate update in the list of updates. Click Uninstall.

The following defects have been fixed in Service Pack 1:

General

  1. Display of Chinese fonts not visible on layouts has been corrected.
  2. The Polish regional settings can be restored to the 2011 state by running the Restore initial program settings option.
  3. Incorrect French names of the combination types for Belgian settings can also be corrected via the Restore initial program settings option.
  4. A significant slowdown while reading section databases has been improved.
  5. An exception error observed while opening the section manager dialog has been removed
    This correction requires an additional hotfix on x64 OS.
  6. Work of the "Open Layouts from Template" option when several viewers are opened has been improved.
  7. Generating printouts, if using MS Office 2010 64bit, has been enabled.
  8. A very long time of generating a model for rigid diaphragms with loads applied has been reduced.
  9. The missing scale error for maps using PNG screens captures has been corrected.
  10. Incorrect definition of bar and point loads after importing from the Autodesk Revit Structure 2012 program has been fixed.
  11. Incorrect geometry and missing section errors after importing from Robot to Revit have been fixed.

API

  1. Assigning dimensions incorrectly in advanced parameters of the RobotNodeSupportData function has been fixed.
  2. Support of the AbsoluteMaximum Layer in Result Query has been enabled.
  3. The error in section names read from the database has been fixed.
  4. Previewing reports in 64-bit MS Word has been enabled.

Analysis

  1. The warning has been added that circular references in the kinematic constrain definition may lead to false results.
  2. The action of contour loads on diaphagms/claddings has been fixed.
  3. Incorrect generation of the wind load for the "Library Structure LT Bois" projects has been corrected.
  4. An automatic value of the base shear for the seismic analysis according to IBC 2009 has been fixed.
  5. Zero values of masses in results of modal analysis for the mass matrices: lumped and lumped with rotation have been corrected.

R/C Design

  1. Beams: incorrect generation of hooks for the BAEL cage anchorage method has been fixed.
  2. Columns: an incorrect interaction N-M diagram for concrete with parabolic stress-strain relation has been corrected.
  3. Spread footings: omitting changes of load factors in the regulation file has been fixed.

Steel Connections Design

  1. Beam-to-beam (web) connection: incorrect welds verification has been fixed.
  2. Beam-to-column connection: incorrect import of forces in case of beams on 2 sides has been improved.
  3. Critical errors while opening the steel connection window and while defining a connection have been fixed.
  4. The critical error when definig a gusset plate using the UK profile database has been fixed.
  5. Gusset plate connection: the error on unavailability of diameters of plate connectors (only M10 available) has been removed.

Steel Members Design

  1. The slenderness check during group verification is no longer ignored.
  2. A very long time of verifying a column with the automatic detection of adjoining bracings in the plane of buckling has been reduced.
  3. The incorrect verification of a compund cross section created from two angles has been corrected.
  4. Undefined values in the calculation of EC3 thin-walled profiles have been corrected.

Timber Members Design

  1. An incorrect name of the governing load case for SLS verification has been corrected.

R/C Design

  1. The fatal error while defining slab/wall reinforcement parameters for the Polish Code PN-B 03264 (2002) has been removed.

The following defects have been fixed in Service Pack 3:

General

  1. Missing or incomplete images on the Library Structure selection buttons have been complemented.
  2. Using non-Latin letters in the user name no longer prevents the combination editor from working.
  3. Printout composition has been revised to improve:

  4. - editing screen captures and titles from the preview page;
    - editing data tables with the info tab;
    - applying the turned off auto-adjust option to narrow tables.
  5. Incorrect properties data for double angles DL, DLL, DLS in aiscpro.xml (AISC 13.2) section database have been corrected.
  6. Fatal errors while closing the software and in some other situations have been fixed.

Analysis & Results

  1. SLS code combination filter for automatically generated Eurocode-based combinations can be presented correctly now.
  2. Reduced story forces for seismic cases are now combined using correct quadratic combinations.
    Forces carried by columns are now calculated by adding up sectional forces from the base of the story.

Steel Members Design

  1. The display of the lateral buckling parameters Cb dialog for the ANSI AISC 360-05 code is no longer blocked.
  2. Internal bracings for complex non-rectilinear members are no longer neglected.
  3. The fatal error while displaying information in Greek has been removed.

Steel Connections Design

  1. The action of column normal forces in fixed and pinned column bases, imported with opposite signs from the structure, in the software with installed Service Pack 1 is no longer inverted.
  2. Vertical anchor spacing ev while defining 4 anchors in the pinned column base is now taken into account correctly.

R/C Design

  1. Using wrong load coefficients while combining loads defined for r/c beams and while importing r/c beams from the Autodesk® Concrete Building Structures software has been corrected.
  2. Applying geometric imperfections in the r/c columns design according to EC2 EN1992-1-1 has been fixed.

Concrete Building Structures

  1. Material databases may be freely loaded now.

Analysis & Results

  1. Meshing when the regular mesh option is selected has been improved.
  2. HTML printout issues observed when using Internet Explorer 9 have been fixed.
  3. Modification of the predefined printouts in the preview mode is now possible.
  4. Tables of combinations defined according to Eurocode may be now supplemented with the information about the combination type.

Steel & Timber Members Design

  1. Random results of parallel verification processes run simultaneously have been corrected.
  2. Eurocode coefficient Kcr has been added.

Steel Connections Design

  1. An incorrect number of bolts taken into account while checking the beam to beam connection has been fixed.
  2. Incorrect import of internal forces for verification of the two sided beam to column connection has been corrected.
