There are two types of files that you will use to complete the lessons in the Revit Structure
2010 Families Guide: families guide documentation and training files.

The documentation is available in Help format (CHM) and in PDF format. The families guide
documentation is contained in the following files:

- rst_families_guide_documents_i.zip (Imperial users)
- rst_families_guide_documents_m.zip (Metric users)

The families guide training files include all of the families files and project files used
in the families guide, and are contained in the following files:

- rst_families_guide_datasets_i.zip (Imperial users)

- rst_families_guide_datasets_m.zip (Metric users)


IMPORTANT: If you are running Windows Vista, you must be an administrator 
in order to extract the tutorial documentation and training files.

Follow these steps to download and extract the families guide documentation to your hard drive:

1. Minimize Revit Structure 2010 if it is open and close the Help if it is open.

2. Click rst_families_guide_documents_i.zip or rst_families_guide_documents_m.zip.

3. Click Save and save the file to a folder of your choice.

4. To extract the families guide documentation from the folder you indicated above
double-click the rst_families_guide_documents_i.zip or 
rst_families_guide_documents_m.zip file, and click Extract.
 
	Use the following path for the Extract to folder location:

	c:\Program Files\Autodesk Revit Structure 2010\Program (Windows XP users)
	
	c:\Users\[username]\Desktop (Windows Vista users)

	Note: If you are running Windows Vista, you must extract the families guide
 	documentation files to the Desktop, and manually copy the families guide
	CHM and PDF files to c:\Program Files\Autodesk Revit Structure 2010\Program.

5. Click Extract.

6. Click Yes to All, when asked to replace the existing file.

Note: Extracting the families guide CHM files to this location adds the families guides
	to the online Help system. The printable PDF version is also available at
	the same location.

7. Close the dialog.

8. Open Revit Structure 2010.

You can now access the families guide from the Help by clicking Families Guide on the Help
menu. (The Help menu is accessed by clicking the drop-down arrow to the right of
the ? icon in the product title bar.)



Follow these steps to download and extract the families guide training files to your hard drive:

1. Click rst_families_guide_datasets_i.zip or rst_families_guide_datasets_m.zip.

2. Click Save and save the file to a folder of your choice.

3. To extract the families guide files from the folder you indicated above, double-click
the rst_families_guide_datasets_i.zip or rst_families_guide_datasets_m.zip file.
 
	Use the following path for the Extract to folder location:

	C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\RST 2010 (Windows XP users)

	C:\Program Data\Autodesk\RST 2010 (Windows Vista users)
	
5. Click Extract.
	
6. Close the dialog.

7. Open Revit Structure 2010.

Note: If you have previously downloaded the Revit Structure 2010 tutorial training files, skip steps 8 - 11. 

8. Click Application button -> Open -> Project.

9. In the Open dialog:

	- Under Look in:, navigate to the folder location where the training files were extracted.

	- Double-click the Training Files folder.

	- Click Tools -> Add Current Folder to Places.

	
10.Close the Open dialog.

11. Click Yes to save changes made to the Places list.

The families guide training files are now available for use in the families guide procedures.
