Managing SPDL Files

Shaders still use SPDL. We recommend that you avoid using the xsi -i command-line installation, and instead use workgroups or .xsiaddon files to deploy your shaders.

To create a SPDL-based shader

1. Use the Shader Wizard to create a SPDL file for a shader in the spdl folder:

- In the Plug-in Manager, right-click on the spdl folder under the user or workgroup location and choose New > Shader.

See Using the Shader Wizard for instructions on how to set up your shader project and generate the spdl file.

2. From the new spdl file, generate a preset:

- In the Plug-in Tree, right-click the spdl file and choose Regenerate Preset.

3. Compile the shader library (.dll/.so). If you used the shader wizard and kept the defaults, the library will be in the \Application\bin folder of your user or workgroup directory.

To deploy a SPDL-based plug-in

Do one of the following:

• Copy the directories to shared workgroup.

• Package the Add-on directory as an .xsiaddon file.
