Tips for Finding Code Examples

There are thousands of code snippets as well as more comprehensive examples provided throughout the documentation. Use the following tips when searching for examples that are relevant to you:

• Search for the phrase "C++ example" (or "JScript example" or "VBScript example"). Remember to search for a phrase, you must type the quotation marks in the Search box.

• Look up "examples (C++)" in the index (or look up “examples (JScript)” or “examples (VBScript).

• After you search for a word or phrase, click the Location column to sort the results by location, and then look for topics found in the Softimage SDK Examples location.

• To find an example that uses a specific method, try searching for topics that also contain the words "keywords". For example, searching for topics that contain "keywords" and "RegisterCustomDisplay" will give you the three Softimage SDK examples that create custom displays.

• Search for "*UserData", not "UserData". Searching for "*UserData" (or "??tUserData") finds any topic that mentions GetUserData or PutUserData. Note that searching for "*UserData" does not find "GetUserDataSize",
