Managing SPDL Files

Shaders and operators still use SPDL. We recommend that you avoid using the “xsi -i” command-line installation, and instead use workgroups or .xsiaddon files to deploy your shaders and operators.

To create a SPDL-based plug-in

1. Create the SPDL file directly in the \Application\spdl folder of a workgroup or Add-on directory.

To create a SPDL file for a shader, use the Shader Wizard. For an operator (scripted or compiled), use the Scripted Operator Editor and use File > Save As SPDL to create the SPDL file.

2. In the Plug-in Manager, generate a preset:

- In the Plug-in Tree, right a SPDL file and choose Regenerate Preset.

3. Compile .dll, .so into \Application\bin\ folder of a workgroup or Add-on directory.

To deploy a SPDL-based plug-in

Do one of the following:

• Copy the directories to shared workgroup.

• Package the Add-on directory as an .xsiaddon file.
