Caching Options Property Editor

Caches the animation or simulation from an object to a file, including its ICE attributes.

For more information about plotting using ICE attributes, see ICE Caching.

To display: Select an animated or simulated object and choose Tools > Plot > Write Geometry Cache from the Animate toolbar.

General

File Name

Name of the cache file to be saved. This is the syntax: [object]_take1_[frame].format

 

Format

Saves the cache file in ICECache (.cache), PointCache2 (.pc2), or Custom format. See Cache File Formats.

Path

The path in which you want to save the cache file. It uses the default settings that are saved in the Simulation Preferences—click the Preferences button below to go to the Simulation Preferences property editor.

The current path is displayed below this text box.

Start

The frame at which to begin plotting

End

The frame at which to end plotting

Step

The frame step increments to use. When this value is 1, every frame is plotted; when 2, every other frame is plotted, and so on.

Overwrite existing files

Overwrites any existing cache files that have the same path, file name, format, and frame number.

Cache!

Caches the specified frames into the file that you have selected.

Preferences

Opens up the Simulation Preferences in which you can set up the file name and path defaults.

Attributes

Displays a list of ICE attributes for the object to be included in the plotted simulation for the cache file.

Select the checkboxes for the ones you want to include. All required attributes are included in the cache file, whether you select them or not.

• Click Check All to select all attributes.

• Click Uncheck All to deselect all attributes.
