You can add keywords to namable elements such as objects, clusters, materials, image clips, and so on. This allows you to classify and identify elements according to any criteria you choose. You can use these keywords in your own customizations, such as custom filters.
In addition to the procedures described in this section, you can also search for objects by keyword as described in Finding Elements by Keyword [Interface and Tools].

You cannot set keywords on models imported by reference. However, you can set keywords on models before they are exported and imported into a scene. |
To add or edit keywords to elements
1. Display an element’s context menu by right-clicking on it in an explorer, or Alt+right-clicking on it in a schematic or 3D view (Ctrl+Alt+right-clicking on Linux).
- If the element is selected, then all selected elements will be affected.
- If the element is not selected, then only that element will be affected.
2. Choose Set User Keyword(s). The User Keyword(s) dialog box opens.
3. Add or modify keywords by typing in the box.
- Use commas to separate multiple keywords.
- Spaces are ignored.
- Uppercase characters are converted to lowercase.
To remove keywords from elements
1. Display an element’s context menu by right-clicking on it in an explorer, or Alt+right-clicking on it in a schematic or 3D view (Ctrl+Alt+right-clicking on Linux).
- If the element is selected, then all selected elements will be affected.
- If the element is not selected, then only that element will be affected.
2. Choose Set User Keyword(s).
3. Delete the string.
You can display keywords on objects in the 3D views:
• To toggle the display of keywords for selected objects in a single view, choose User Keywords from that view’s Show menu (eye icon).

• To control the display of keywords independently for selected and unselected objects in a single view, first either press Shift+s while the mouse pointer is over that view or choose Visibility Options from the Show menu (eye icon), and then set the User Keywords options on the Attributes tab of the Camera Visibility property editor.
• To control the display of keywords independently for selected and unselected objects in all open views, first either press Ctrl+Shift+s or choose Display > Visibility Options (All Cameras), and then set the User Keywords options on the Attributes tab of the Camera Visibility property editor.
