Old-style (non-self-installing) compiled commands and events stored in the workgroup path will not work unless your environment is homogeneous—that is, all Windows or all Linux.
Events let you run a script or a plug-in automatically every time specific events occur in Softimage. For example, you can automatically delete the default light, create your own light, and customize the viewport settings every time you start a new scene.
You can create a template to use as the basis for new events using the Event Wizard as described in Creating Events.
Once events have been created, you can manage them as described in Managing Your Events. For example, you can mute or delete them.
As with all customizations, you can package them into add-ons to distribute them to other users or install them in a workgroup location.
