Creating and Modifying Key Maps

You can create and modify your own key maps. However, you cannot modify or remove the default key maps installed with Softimage.

To create a key map

1. Select the Key Map on which you want to base your new map.

2. Click New and give the key map a name.

A new key map is created and automatically selected.

To create or modify key bindings

1. Make sure that a modifiable key map is selected. You cannot modify a default key map. If necessary, create a new key map.

2. In the Group box, choose the interface component whose commands you wish to work on.

3. Do one or both of the following:

- To add a key binding, drag a command from the Command box and drop it onto the desired key in the keyboard graphic. Press the Shift, Ctrl, or Alt keys as you drag to add modifiers to the new shortcut.

The new shortcut key appears in the column to the right of the command name in the Command box. Any previous command bound to that key association is removed.

- To remove a key binding, select the command in the Command box and click Clear.

To remove a key map

1. Select the Key Map you want to remove.

2. Click Remove.
