Turbulizing Strands

The Turbulize Strands compound animates the strand using turbulence, which modifies the movement based on noise.

To turbulize strands

1. Create a particle emission—see Creating ICE Particle Emissions for information.

2. In the ICE tree’s preset manager, click the Task tab and select Particles.

3. Create strands using either the Create Strands or Generate Strand Trails compound from the Strands group.

4. Drag the Turbulize Strands compound from the Strands group into the ICE view.

5. Plug its Execute output into a Port on the ICETree node.

6. In the Turbulize Strands property editor, you can set the turbulence scale (amount), animate the turbulence, add complexity (fractal-like detail), select either the Perlin or Simplex noise type, and modify the strength profile curve that defines how the turbulence strength is applied along the strand.

You can also set a multiplier on the strength value, determine the direction in which the turbulence moves (Y axis makes the turbulence move along the length of the strand), and the speed of the movement.

For more information on the parameters, click the ? icon in the property editor or see Turbulize Strands.
