Defines how your scene is played back.
To display: Choose Playback > Playback Options from the Playback panel below the timeline.

Timing

Frame In |
Sets the frame number to appear at the beginning of the timeline. This value must be within the Global In/Out values. |

Frame Out |
Sets the frame number to appear at the end of the timeline. This value must be within the Global In/Out values. |

Curr. Frame |
Specifies the number of the currently viewed frame in the viewport. |
|
Key Frame |
Specifies the current keyframe on the timeline. |
|
Global In |
Start frame for the timeline range, which defines the number of frames available for the scene. |
|
Global Out |
End frame for the timeline range, which defines the number of frames available for the scene. |
|
Loop In |
Sets the frame number where the loop begins. Yellow markers appear on the timeline showing the frame range of the loop. |

Loop Out |
Sets the last frame before the scene resets to the beginning of the loop. |
|
Loop |
Causes the played-back scene to be repeated in a continuous loop until the play button is pressed a second time. This control has the same effect as using the Loop button in the Playback panel below the timeline. |
Precision
|
Frame Step |
Sets the interval at which frames are played back in the viewport. A value of 2 causes the viewports to display only every second frame in the viewport during playback. |

Format |
Sets the speed at which frames are played back in the viewport (fps = frames per second). You can choose from NTSC (29.97 fps), PAL (25 fps), Film (24 fps), 30 fps, or Custom. If you select Custom, you must define the number of frames per second in the Frame Rate text box. |

Frame Rate |
Displays the selected speed at which frames are played back in the viewport. |
Fr. Rate change: keep fcurve timings fixed
Allows function curves to maintain their keyframes at the original frame values when the frame rate is changed.

The fcurves are scaled to compensate for the change in frame rate. |
Update Options
Selected Objects

Update |
Specifies which selected objects update as the scene is played back. Select from the list of different types of objects to update. |
Unselected Objects

Near |
Specifies which unselected objects in the foreground update as the scene is played back. The distance at which objects are considered to be near is set by the Near Dist. parameter. |

Far |
Specifies which unselected objects in the background update as the scene is played back. The distance at which objects are considered to be far is set by the Near Dist. parameter. |
Distance Threshold (to Camera)

Specifies the threshold in Softimage units at which objects considered to be “near” are regarded as “far” when calculating which objects to update during replay. |

Update Group Visibilities |
Updates groups with animated visibilities at each frame change. |
On-Frame-Change-Script

Command |
Executes a script whenever a frame is displayed. Enter the script name in this box. |
