Shader Type: RealTime (RTShader)
Output: RealTime
Display Mode: DirectX10
The DX10FX realtime shader allows you to load and display DirectX effects, stored in .fx files, in 3D views using the DirectX10 display mode.
DirectX effects are high-level programs that allow you to combine a number of multi-pass vertex and pixel shading effects in a single file to produce sophisticated realtime-shading effects. You can author DirectX effects using a number of different third-party programs. You can then save those effects as .fx files and bring them directly into Softimage’s render tree using this shader.
The shader supports external file referencing as well as inlined code compilation for rapid prototyping. For more information about working with the DXFX10 shader, see Effects Shaders (.fx Files) [Realtime Shaders].
The DX10FX realtime shader supports a subset of SAS 0.8 and SAS 1.0 semantics to implement data binding. For more information, see Standard Annotations and Semantics.

DirectX FX File |
The path and name of the external .fx file to use. The DXFX10 shader accepts a relative path to the effects file. The path should be relative to the root of the current project. This allows you to transfer your project to another path or machine without having to re-associate your referenced file to the new scene location. |

The DX10FX shader is connected to the RealTime input of the material node. Other realtime shaders, such as texture shaders, can be connected to its inputs.
