Saving and Loading Render Tree Presets

A great thing about render trees is that you can save them as presets and then apply them to a different object or to another render tree. The most important thing to consider when saving a render tree preset is which node to save. Trees are saved from right to left, following the nodes’ hierarchy. For example, a node on the right side of the render tree workspace saves every node under it to the left.

To save a render tree preset

1. Double-click the node you wish to save to open its property editor.

2. Click the preset icon in the upper-right of the editor and choose Save Preset from the menu.

3. Navigate to where you wish to save the render tree preset, name it, and click OK.

To load a render tree preset

1. Double-click the node to which you wish to load a preset.

2. From its property editor, click preset icon in the upper-right of the editor and choose Load Preset from the menu.

3. Use the browser to navigate to the location in which you saved your presets, select one, and click OK.

You can achieve more accurate results if you load a material node preset on a material node preset, or a surface shader on a surface shader, and so on.
