This section covers features about the different way in which you can create dynamics in Autodesk® Softimage®. Dynamics let you simulate natural motion by applying forces and physical properties to an object.
There are three basic ways in which you can turn ordinary objects into dynamically-simulated objects:
• Rigid Bodies
Rigid bodies are ordinary objects to which you apply certain physical properties and forces. Rigid bodies do not deform when they collide with obstacles in a dynamic simulation.
• Rigid Body Constraints
Rigid bodies constraints are special constraints that work with rigid bodies, such as hinges, springs, sliders, and ball-and-socket joints.
• Soft Bodies
Soft bodies are objects that deform when they collide with obstacles.
• Cloth (Softimage Cloth)
Like soft bodies, cloth objects deform when they collide with obstacles.
For information about simulation in general, including forces and obstacles, see Simulation Basics.
