Scripted operators are similar to expressions but are much more powerful. They provide a way to use scripts to control anything from a single parameter to whole parameter sets or even an object’s geometry. You can:
• Apply a scripted operator on a parameter, property, or geometry.
• Use multiple input and output connections to get and set scene data.
• Use custom variables to control the effect.
• Save and apply presets of scripted operators.
• Plot the parameter values of a scripted operator and export the result as a raw function curve.

If you plan to reuse an operator with multiple scenes and objects, consider using self-installing custom operators instead. Self-installing custom operators are described in more detail in the SDK Guide. There is a wizard for creating new self-installing custom operators, and some tips for converting a runtime-defined scripted operator to a self-installing one. |
