Attaching an Object to a Texture Projection

You can connect an object in your scene to another object’s texture projection. The projection applies any texture that you specify to the new object.

To attach an object to an existing texture projection

1. Apply a texture projection to an object, as described earlier.

2. Scale the object’s texture support to accommodate another object.

This step is crucial because the object that you attach to the first object’s projection needs to be inside the support for the texture to be properly projected onto it.

3. Now select the object that you want to attach to the first object’s projection.

4. From the Render toolbar, choose Get > Property > Texture Projection > Connect to Projection.

5. Enter a name for the new projection and click OK.

This is actually the name that the first object’s projection will have in the second object’s hierarchy.

6. Select the projection that you want to attach to the object. Do this from the explorer: locate the first object’s Texture Projection node and pick it. The pick session ends automatically.

Look in the second object’s hierarchy. You should see a Texture Projection node with the name that you specified in step 5.

7. Apply a texture to the second object. Make sure to use the projection that you just created.

Voilą! A new object is attached to an existing projection, within an existing support. If you transform the texture projection or the texture support, it affects both objects.
