Vertex coloring is way of adding color to polygon objects by storing color, alpha, and/or luminance information in each polygon’s polynodes. This chapter covers:
• Applying a color at vertices (CAV) property to an object.
• Painting colors directly on the object using the Paint Vertex Colors tool.
• Painting an alpha channel directly on the object using the Paint Vertex Colors tool.
• Painting luminance directly on the object using the Paint Vertex Colors tool.
• Using bleeding options to control how color, alpha, and luminance are applied.
• Rendering the CAV information as surface shading.
• “Baking” surface information into a CAV property using RenderVertex.
These topics are discussed in the following sections:
• Vertex Painting Workflow Overview
• Creating Color at Vertices (CAV) Maps
