Parameter Maps

Certain parameters are mappable — you can vary the parameter’s value across an object’s geometry by connecting a weight map, texture map, vertex color property, or other cluster property. This allows you to, for example, control the amplitude of a deformation or the emission rate of a particle system.

This chapter describes how to:

• Connect any type of valid map to a mappable parameter.

• Work with weight maps, including how to create and paint on them.

• Work with texture maps, including how to create and edit them. Vertex colors are described in Vertex Colors.
