PLC Database Editor crashes and Migration Utility Exits on 64 bit Operating Systems

This hotfix repairs a problem on 64 bit operating systems in which AutoCAD Electrical's PLC Database Editor can crash when you select a module to edit and it also corrects an issue where the Migration Utility will fail to run. Even though these issues only expose themselves on the 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, this hotfix should be applied to both 64 bit Windows XP or 64 bit Windows Vista version. This hotfix is not required for any 32 bit operating systems.

Prerequisites

• You must have AutoCAD® Electrical 2010 installed.
• You will need administrative privileges.

Note: This hotfix will update all language versions and is not required for any 32 bit operating systems.

Installation Instructions

1. Exit AutoCAD Electrical
2. Download the hotfix: TS1108527.zip
3. Find the product installation folder; for example C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Acade 2010.
4. In this folder, right-click the AceMigrationUtil.dll file and select Properties.
5. In Windows XP, click the Version tab, in Windows Vista click the Details tab. Confirm the file version.

• If this file is version 7.0.52.0, then proceed with this installation.
• If this file is version 7.0.54.100, then this hotfix has already been applied.

6. Find the folder Acade under the product installation folder; for example C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Acade 2010\Acade.
7. In this folder, right-click the ace_mb.arx file and select Properties.
8. In Windows XP, click the Version tab, in Windows Vista click the Details tab. Confirm the file version.

• If this file is version 7.0.52.0, then proceed with this installation.
• If this file is version 7.0.54.100, then this hotfix has already been applied.

9. Rename the affected original files.

• In the product installation folder, right-click the file AceMigrationUtil.dll and rename it AceMigrationUtil.bak.
• In the Acade folder under the product installation folder, right-click the file ace_mb.arx and rename it ace_mb.bak.

10. Double-click the downloaded file.
11. Extract AceMigrationUtil.dll to the product installation folder (for example, C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Acade 2010)
12. Extract ace_mb.arx to the Acade folder under the product installation folder (for example, C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Acade 2010\Acade)
13. Verify the version of the replaced files by right-clicking on the new AceMigrationUtil.dll and ace_mb.arx files and select Properties. In Windows XP click the Version tab, in Windows Vista click the Details tab. Confirm that this file is version 7.0.54.100.

NOTE: To remove this HOTFIX, delete the new AceMigrationUtil.dll and ace_mb.arx files and the rename the file AceMigrationUtil.bak back to its original name of AceMigrationUtil.dll and the file ace_mb.bak back to its original name of ace_mb.arx.
