Thank you for downloading AutoCAD® Map 3D 2012 Service Pack 2

This readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of the Update. It is strongly recommended that you read the entire document before you apply the Service Pack to your product. For reference, you should save this document to your hard drive or print a copy.

Note: Autodesk Infrastructure Administrator:   You may experience an unusually long delay when installing Autodesk Infrastructure Administrator 2012 Service Pack 2 from a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system.  The issue is caused by a Microsoft defect.  Please see this article on the Microsoft support site for more information, including specific conditions that are known to cause the delay. Possible Workaround(s): If you installed Autodesk Infrastructure Administrator from a DVD, place the DVD in the tray before installing Service Pack 2. If you installed it from a server location, make sure you have the location mapped to the installation files before installing Service Pack 2.

You can apply this Service Pack to the following Autodesk products running on all supported operating systems and languages. Be sure to install the correct Service Pack for your software.

You can also use Autodesk Exchange to install the Live Update Maintenance Patches for AutoCAD Map 3D 2012, which will automatically show the correct service pack for your product.

Note:  You do not need to install Service Pack 1 before installing Service Pack 2.

It is recommended that you right click the installer and select "Run as Administrator" while installing the service pack. When you apply this service pack while running AutoCAD Map 3D, it is recommended that you do not click the "Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete" option. Instead, close AutoCAD Map 3D manually, and press "Ignore" at the prompt. It is also recommended that you reboot your system after installing the update.

The following defects have been fixed:

3D Navigation Tools

Service Pack 1

·         3DConnexion settings are not being remembered after changes are made.

·         3Dconnexion device will not cancel the current command.

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable after switching between a 3D Viewport to a 2D Viewport.

·         "Keep Scene Upright" in 3DConnexion Settings dialog cannot be changed.

·         Unknown command "SPACEMOUSEACTION" and device is not working when using 3DConnexion device.

3D Surface Modeling

Service Pack 1

·         With dynamic input off dragging the height handle of an extruded line will not always stretch by the value and direction of the drag.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when rebuilding a helix to a spline where the selection was not dropped. 

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable after using SAVEAS on some drawings that have been run through recover.

 

Annotation Scaling

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable while attempting to load a DCL file with errors from a long file name.

·         Tooltip does not appear when Additional tool tip string is set in “AcEdInputPointMonitor::monitorInput”.

·         API fix: This fix will respect the custom color, line pattern and line weight when selecting the entities including external reference.

Service Pack 2

·         MTEXT column width can collapse to zero when XREF is bound to the parent drawing.

·         Annotative MTEXT column width can collapse to zero when drawing is saved and reopened.

Array

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using the ARRAYCLASSIC dialog with solid entities selected and clicking on the preview button.

·         On a 32bit Operating system using the ARRAYCLASSIC command preview with a large number of items selected, you may get a warning "Too many objects would be created."

·         On a 32bit Operating system using the ARRAYCLASSIC command you may encounter objects on locked layers being removed without a warning dialog.

·         Array blocks may not display when attached as an XREF.

ASM

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when drawings contain loft surface on different layers and saved to older drawing versions such as 2004.

Autoloader

Service Pack 1

·         Autoloader fails when SeriesMax parameter set to linked.

·         Autoloader loads partial CUI but may not display it when the bundle is removed and reinstalled.

·         When platform="AutoCAD*", bundles will be load on ACAD and Vertical.

·         Using Autoloader to add custom CUI files that contain WPF Custom Controls will not work as it needs a registry entry.

Service Pack 2

·         The AutoCAD options paths may become shortened when the Inventor Fusion Plugin is installed.

·         Autoloader fails to load a modified CUIx file.

·         ACFusion.cuix keeps getting added back to AutoCAD even when unloaded.  

Blocks

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable while snapping to blocks containing OLE objects.

·         Editing attribute text in EATTEDIT dialog sometimes results in a fatal error.

·         When a drawing is saved from within the Block Editor, the entire content of the drawing is sometimes lost and replaced with the content of the block being edited.

·         Sometimes there is a delay while trying to modify blocks containing a Block Table Parameter.

·         AutoCAD becomes unstable when entering the block editor, attempting to edit a dynamic block which has geometry on a locked layer.

·         Sometimes the BEDIT toolbar does not get hidden after exiting block editor.

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may take a long time when inserting an external block that contains a large number of layer filters.

·         Dynamic Blocks may not be updated when the Property Palette is visible.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable after changing the view during ARRAYCLASSIC or Hatch preview.

CUI (Customizable User Interface)

Service Pack 2

·         Context menus are different based on how you have loaded the Main and Enterprise menu.

Digitizer

Service Pack 1

·         You may receive an error at the command line after enabling a WinTab driver and the tablet will not function. 

Display Drivers

Service Pack 1

·         Integrated chipsets are unable to return available video memory correctly.

DGN Support

Service Pack 2

·         DGN linetypes may display inconsistently.

·         Imported text of a dimension in a DGN file is not submitted to the dimension style.

Display Drivers

Service Pack 2

·         When using COPYCLIP and PASTECLIP on a 64bit Operating System, you may see the object color change from the original color.

DRAW2D

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when autosave runs with an attached PDF file that is an extremely small scale.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using commands that modify one of the dimensions with the cyclic dependency.

DWF

Service Pack 1

·         Arcs and circles viewed on edge appear as a single line. This changes 2D DWF/DWFx drivers to plot them as a single line, rather than a polyline.

DWG

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using the "UNDO" command on drawings that are 2 gigabyte or larger.

Dimensions

Service Pack 1

·         Ordinate dimensions in paper space are not correctly reflecting the distance from paper space UCS.

ETRANSMIT

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable while closing a drawing after etransmitting it using the COM API.

Exchange

Service Pack 1

·         Autodesk Exchange may display a non-subscription link after updating to a subscription serial number.

·         User login IDs that contained special characters like “@” could not log in to online services.

Express Tools

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using the NCOPY command.

·         Overkill may delete polylines incorrectly when working with reversed polylines.

·         Overkill may not work well when there is an arc segment in between 2 line segments.

Export to Layout

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using the EXPORTLAYOUT command.

External Reference (XREF)

Service Pack 2

·         DGN files become scaled by a factor of 1/12 after an xref bind.

Fields

Service Pack 2

·         Field for viewport scale is displayed as "Custom" on opening legacy files such as AutoCAD 2009.

Hatch

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using the “separate hatch” option.

Image

Service Pack 1

·         Multi frame QuickBird Tiff image files may not display expected colors.

·         When trying to insert an Adobe Photoshop PSD file it was not visible in the file filter list.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when inserting an Adobe Photoshop PSD file.

Inquiry

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when grip editing a PLINE with the Properties Palette open.

Layer

Service Pack 1

·         Changing layer colors of layers beginning with non-alphanumeric characters may result in other layers changing colors.

·         The layer state Ribbon control does not honor the apply properties viewport overrides.

Layouts

Service Pack 2

·         Error message appears in command line after renaming the layout tab when sheet set manager is opened.

MLeader

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when drawings with multileaders are saved to older versions.

Service Pack 2

·         The landing on mleaders can change unexpectedly when certain LISP routines are run.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using Check Standards on drawings with leaders.

Model Documentation

Service Pack 2

·         Temporary IDW files with "dwg.tmp" extension are created when a file with model documentation drawing views from AutoCAD 2013 is opened in AutoCAD 2012.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable after clicking the Publish button for drawings with AutoCAD 2013-created drawing views.

Modify

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when editing polylines.

·         NCOPY may fail to copy objects contained in blocks that were inserted into paper space.

Mtext

Service Pack 1

·         Mtext Paragraph spacing value cannot be edited once a value is set.

·         True Type (TTF) font text or mtext is blurry, bold, and distorted when the viewport is non-orthogonal because XY values are not exactly zero.

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD LT may become unstable when setting the Mtext direction to vertical in the Property Palette.

OLE (Object Linking & Embedding)

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when copying from an Excel file back to AutoCAD.

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using OLE to copy and paste Excel content.

Open/Save

Service Pack 1

·         Cannot open drawing files from file Explorer if the drawing contains a "'%'" in the file name.

OSNAP

Service Pack 2

·         The final value for the line is using the total length instead of stretch/extension.

·         When using Osnap, then selecting a line with a grip, then stretching by entering an exact distance may not yield the expected length.

Other

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may stop responding when saving and or opening drawings with Symantec Norton 360 Version 5 installed on your system.

·         You will be unable to open drawings created using a non-Autodesk product when using the Open() API.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when selecting the grid in some drawings.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable after editing MTEXT in a viewport and when exiting the program.

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when opening drawings with possible corrupt array entities.

Parametric Drawing

Service Pack 1

·         Area is wrong when coincident constraints are applied to entities.

PDF Export

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using PDF Export on files that contain MS Mincho font.

PDF Underlay

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when unloading a PDF underlay.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when an undefined PDF underlay is unloaded.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when plotting drawings that include “MS Mincho” to PDF.

Performance

Service Pack 1

·         Drawings containing many layers may become slower with each pan and zoom operation when the ribbon is active.

·         Performance improvement in 64bit COM APIs.

Service Pack 2

·         With DUCS turned on, the cursor may have been freezing after closing the block editor.

Plot

Service Pack 1

·         You may experience data loss when sending multiple plots to Xerox printers.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when selecting plot preview.

Service Pack 2

·         CTB, STB, PC3 and PMP files may not have been added to etransmit list when additional plot search paths were added.

Point Cloud

Service Pack 2

·         Point cloud with certain CS assigned is now able to insert at right orientation and generate a surface.

Publish

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when publishing to DWF.

Purge

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using the purge command.

Ribbon

Service Pack 1

·         The linetype preview may be missing from the linetype dropdown in Ribbon Properties panel when opening drawings from the Application Menu.

·         Ribbon Combo Box text eight may be empty when using "TEXTEDIT" on multiple dimensions.

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when exiting Microsoft Windows 8.

SHP Files

Service Pack 2

·         Features now are visible after adding SHP data with empty records to map with a query.  

Snaps

Service Pack 1

·         With Snap enabled, the cursor does not move to snap intervals.

·         Turning SNAPGRIDLEGACY ON will restore the old Snap behavior of the cursor when no command is active.

·         Restores legacy SNAP behavior during certain LISP-based selection commands.

Selection

Service Pack 1

·         Sheet List Table Context menu in Sheet Set Manager (SSM) is missing some menu items.

Service Pack 2

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when copying large selection sets.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when working with joined splines.

Sheet Set Manager

·         Cell style is grayed out when picking inside any cell.

·         The data link menu is grayed out after inserting a data link in a table.

·         Customizied Tooltips fail to be aligned by rows.

UI Enhancements

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable attempting to edit a polyline vertices Pedit tangent.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable in group selection where the group contains a box.

·         When objects are on locked layers you are able to nudge them.

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when interacting with the ViewCube while grip editing.

·         When right click menus are disabled, selection or crossing right click actions are incorrect.

Visual Basic for Application (VBA)

Service Pack 1

·         AcFocusCtrl cannot be inserted in a VBA form.

Service Pack 2

·         On a 64bit Operating system with VBA loaded, you may not be able to restore AutoCAD after minimizing it.

Visual Lisp

Service Pack 1

·         Attribute dialog will be displayed when inserting a block with attributes based on the setvar ATTDIA value.

Visual Styles

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when using osnap in a 2d hide view.

Service Pack 2

·         Visual Styles may become lost when saving back to a previous drawing version such as AutoCAD 2007 file format.

Zoom/Pan

Service Pack 1

·         AutoCAD may become unstable when zooming over the XY indicator in Layout.

The Service Pack brings back the Array dialog functionality by introducing a new CLASSICARRAYDIALOG command.  It also introduces the option to restore legacy Snap behavior by controlling it through the new SNAPGRIDLEGACY system variable:

CLASSICARRAYDIALOG
Creates copies of objects in a regularly spaced rectangular or polar array.

SNAPGRIDLEGACY
1 – Always snap the cursor to the grid
0 – Only snap the cursor to the grid when AutoCAD prompts to specify a point

As you prepare to install this Update, keep the following in mind:

Back Up Custom Files

It is recommended that you back up all custom CUIX, MNR, and MNL files before you apply this Update.

Administrative Privileges

During installation, you will be prompted for the original installation media or a network image. In order to apply this service pack, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.

Network Deployment

Administrators can deploy this Service Pack over a network using the Deployment Wizard.

About Your Product

After you install the Service Pack, updated product information displays in the About dialog box.

Reboot

After you install, it is recommended to reboot your system even if not prompted.

The following Microsoft Windows command line switches are built into this Update:

·         /e – Extracts the MSP file from the Service Pack executable.

·         /q – Suppresses the completion message after the Service Pack is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file to apply this Service Pack to multiple computers.

Follow these instructions to install this Service Pack on a single computer.

1.    Download the Service Pack and save it to any folder.

2.    If required, insert the product media (for example, the AutoCAD installation disc).

3.    Find the folder where you saved the Service Pack and double-click the executable (EXE) file.

You can use InfoCenter to apply this Service Pack through your local network. Detailed instructions on how to set up patching through your local network are listed in the InfoCenter tab of the CAD Manager Control Utility Help.

Note: You can install the CAD Manager Control Utility from the product installation media. Select Install Tools and Utilities and then select Autodesk CAD Manager Tools.

The following distribution method applies only to administrative images created with the Deployment Wizard. After you complete these procedures, subsequent deployments of your product will include this Service Pack.

In all cases, append this Service Pack to the deployment. The only time it is appropriate to merge the Service Pack is if you intend to distribute the deployment through a group policy object.

The patch (service pack) file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file, which you extract from the executable file using the /e (extract) switch. For an example of the syntax, see step 2, below.

1.    From the Autodesk Product Support website, download the Service Pack EXE file to your local computer.

2.    On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter the following information and click OK.

<local_drive:>\<patch_name> /e <local_drive:>\< patch_name>.msp

3.    Insert the Autodesk media and launch setup.exe.

4.    Select Create Deployments. Click Next.

5.    On the Begin Deployment page, in the Specify the Deployment Location box, enter the shared network location where you would like to create an administrative image, or click Browse to find a location. Users install the product from this location.

6.    In the Specify a Deployment Name box, enter the name for your deployment.

7.    Continue through the Deployment wizard, open and configure the deployment in the product configuration page, click Add to find the Service Pack extracted in Step 2. Notice that the Service Pack has been added in the Include Update(s) from local drive or local network box. Close and return to the product list.

8.    Follow the instructions in the Deployment wizard to complete the Service Pack deployment.

The AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 Service Pack 2 cannot be uninstalled. In order to return to the original state of the application you must uninstall AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 and reinstall it.
