Thank you for downloading Service Pack 4 for Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2014.

This readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this service pack. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply the service pack to your licensed copy of the product.

This service pack is for the following Autodesk products running on all supported operating systems. It includes all previous Service Packs and may be applied to any licensed copy of software with or without installed Service Packs. Be sure to download and install the correct service pack for your software.
Be sure to download and install the correct service pack if downloaded from the Updates and Service Packs web site.
(Live Update service recognizes downloads and installs the right service pack automatically).

Apply This Service Pack to a Standalone Installation

Take the steps below to install this service pack.

  1. Download the service pack and save it to any folder.
  2. Find the folder where you saved the service pack and double-click the executable (EXE) file.
  3. If required, insert the product media (for example, the Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2014 installation disc).

Uninstall This Service Pack

Windows 7

  1. From the Start menu (Windows), click Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs, and then click Programs and Features.
  3. In the Programs and Features window, in the left pane, click View installed updates.
  4. Find the appropriate service pack in the list of updates. Click Uninstall.

Windows 8

  1. Move the mouse pointer to the right side of the screen and click Settings when appear, then Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs, and then click Programs and Features.
  3. In the Programs and Features window, in the left pane, click View installed updates.
  4. Find the appropriate service pack in the list of updates. Click Uninstall.

The following defects have been fixed in the previous service pack:

General

  1. Launching the help from the 'Calculation Manager' and 'Delete prepared results' tools has been fixed.
  2. Display of castellated and other special section shapes has been reestablished.
  3. Display of tables and steel design notes created by the 'Frame generator' has been fixed.
  4. Opening of damaged examples (RTD files) has been improved.
  5. Import of SDNF files and data from the Autodesk® Inventor® software has been fixed.
  6. The random crash observed during bar selection has been fixed.
  7. API function 'ReversedRelease' for the bar releases check has been fixed.
  8. Slow opening of the *.RTD file from the previous software version has been corrected.
  9. Displaying incorrect name of the *.RTD file after renaming during closing the program has been corrected.
  10. New equal leg angles profiles with a leg length from 200 to 300 mm have been added to the ArcelorMittal section database.
  11. Export to Word of the printouts containing maps has been corrected.
  12. Saving of the header and footer printout templates has been fixed.
  13. Visibility of linear support along arcs has been fixed.
  14. Incorrect display of the 'Section properties' dialog for the French UI has been fixed.
  15. Incorrect calculation moment of inertia IY for the SFB special sections has been fixed.
  16. Incorrect display of load case numbers after opening of damaged *.RTD files has been fixed.
  17. Incorrect values for gamma angles for bars after opening of damaged *.RTD files has been fixed.
  18. Error while inserting the library structures in an Italian version of the program has been removed.
  19. Problem with opening the library structures or *.STR files in RSA 2014 for Win XP has been removed.
  20. Incorrect torsion properties Wx and Ix of the SAISC section database have been corrected.

Model Definition

  1. Material assignment for panels defined as ACIS objects has been fixed.
  2. Inversion of bracket position and tapered bar slope by the 'Local Bar Direction…' command has been removed.
  3. Influence of the 'Detailed correct' command on rectangle panels (walls) has been fixed.
  4. Excessive duplication of bar nodal load when translating a bar along its length has been corrected.
  5. Applying linear loads to edges without warnings has been fixed.
  6. Potential deletion of nodal loads in structures with shell elements for which no loads (not even self-weight) have been defined has been corrected.
  7. Disappearing of tributary areas during the analysis has been fixed.
  8. Forcing the division number while defining Coon's mesh has been fixed.
  9. Generation of incorrect rigid links for diaphragms with zero material density has been fixed.
  10. Unimportant circular references inside meshes are no longer reported.
  11. Unusual slowdown of the model verification has been fixed.
  12. Fault operation of the Section Definition module for highly complex sections has been fixed.
  13. Display of automatic combination load types has been fixed.
  14. Generation of wind loads of undefined value for EN 1991-1-3/4:2005 has been fixed.
  15. Fatal error observed during modification of the wind load coefficients for NV65 02/09 has been fixed.
  16. Losing definition parameters of the climatic loads while wind and snow loads generation has been fixed.
  17. Memory error observed on 32-bit systems while generating wind and snow for models without attics has been fixed.
  18. Lack of result status change after modifications of the analysis parameters has been fixed.
  19. Too long model consolidation process for structures with claddings has been improved.
  20. Problem with overlapping timber beams sections has been resolved.
  21. Verification of isolated nodes before model generation has been restored.

Analysis and Results

  1. Freezing the analysis run by 'Calculation Restart…' option has been corrected.
  2. Display of instability warnings when calculation errors appear has been fixed.
  3. The spectrum used in Chilean seismic calculation has been corrected.
  4. Disregarding density in modal analysis for claddings or diaphragms without FE meshes has been fixed.
  5. Results for 3D models with rotated supports defined by nodes/points (not defined by rotation angles) have been fixed.
  6. Taking into account importance class for the horizontal spectrums seismic analysis according to the French Eurocode (NF EN 1998-1/NA:2007 19.juil.2011) has been fixed.
  7. Generation of equivalent lateral forces on the highest floor only during a simplified seismic analysis has been corrected.
  8. Display of the core wall diagram for stories without masses has been fixed.
  9. Inactive dialog controls for displaying reduced forces maps on bars have been removed.
  10. Taking into account the shear forces while timber bars deformation calculation, disregarding the option activation, has been fixed.
  11. Lack of convergence while using multithreaded solver for nonlinear analysis has been fixed.
  12. Wrong procedure for the cable element results calculation when loaded with element loads (observed as well as the wrong results of nonlinear time history analysis) has been fixed.
  13. Incorrect level of structure base when set as different than zero and incorrect S(Ta) value presented in the calculation note during the NBCC 2010 seismic analysis using equivalent lateral force procedure have been fixed.
  14. Fatal error observed during stress analysis of the compound sections has been fixed.
  15. Wrong value for base shear for the simplified seismic analysis during calculation according to NBCC 2010 has been corrected.
  16. Display of combinations for the entire structure by treating specific phases as zero values for the elements not available in all phases has been enabled.

Steel Connections Design

  1. Accidental change of the anchorage bolt diameter for the column base has been fixed.
  2. Tube connection chord resistance verification for CHS sections has been corrected.
  3. Constant diameter of the anchor bolts disregarding dialog settings for fixed and pinned column bases according to CM66 code has been corrected.
  4. Ignoring moment component originating from the shear force while calculation of normal stress in a welded 'Beam to Beam' connection has been fixed.
  5. Fatal error in the 'Steel Connection Inspector' after creating connections for selected structure bars has been fixed.
  6. Incorrect section properties of double channels while verification of 'Truss Node' connection according to EC3 has been improved.
  7. Wrong values for Wpl plastic modulus in the calculation of EC3 have been corrected.

Steel Members Design

  1. Steel member internal bracings definition for some codes (SNiP II-23-81, BS5950:2000, BSK99, GB50017-2003) has been fixed.
  2. ANSI AISC 360-05: lack of seismic dispositions verifications for manually defined seismic cases and combinations has been fixed.
  3. AS4100: undefined result value of the stability check has been fixed.
  4. BS EN 1993-1: yield strength values which were previously taken from the general Eurocode are now taken from the British national application.
  5. EN 1993-1:2005/AC:2009: k_zy coefficient zero value for not bi-symmetric sections has been replaced by the value calculated according to Table B.2 of Annex B.
  6. EC3 (all brands): elastic analysis for sections of class 2 has been fixed.
  7. Incorrect verification of T sections according to AS4100 code has been fixed.
  8. Problem with the buckling parameters during manual verification has been corrected (observed in AIJ-ASD 05, BSK99, BS 5950:200, GB50017-2003, NS 3472:2001, SNIP II-23-81, STAS 10108/0-78)

  1. Crash observed while inserting summary table to drawings has been fixed.
  2. Overlapping texts on drawing exported to DXF have been corrected.
  3. Elements disappearing from the inspector window when re-exporting to the RC modules have been fixed.
  4. Crash observed in RC beam design has been fixed.
  5. Beam rebar placed in the middle of span is now extended instead of being hooked.
  6. Column stirrup arrangement option has been fixed
  7. Import of manual combinations for RC column design has been unlocked.
  8. Crash observed while trying to add a Continuous Footing view has been locked.
  9. The extremely slow import of panels with defined load combinations has been fixed.
  10. Memory errors occurring during required reinforcement of slab calculation have been fixed.
  11. Incorrect slenderness ratio of columns in fire conditions during calculation according to Eurocode 2 has been fixed.
  12. Incorrect types of reinforcement bars in the BBK04 reinforcement database have been fixed.
  13. Crash errors or hanging the program during the calculation of beams when 'Display diagrams for all combinations' option was selected has been eliminated.
  14. Generation of main reinforcement when capacity of assembly reinforcement was included has been corrected.
  15. Incorrect value for shear force in the middle of a column has been corrected.
  16. Incorrect steel parameters taken into account during the calculation of columns reinforcement according to SNiP 52-01-2003 code have been fixed.
  17. Wrong display of results for block foundation after calculations according to BAEL 91 code has been fixed.
  18. Required reinforcement calculation for slabs using the Wood&Amer method according to PN-B 03264 (2002) code has been fixed.
  19. Calculation of crack width for slab according to SNiP 52-01-2003 code has been corrected.
  20. Duration of the calculation of reinforcement for slabs has been reduced.
  21. Incorrect automatic reinforcement direction taken into account during presentation and design for slab according to SNiP 52-01-2003 code has been corrected.

General

  1. API functions supporting load to mass conversion, assigning materials to parametric sections and returning position of the extreme value on bar have been corrected.
  2. Export to Word screen captures including tables with info tab has been unblocked.
  3. The size of the context menu for the Object Inspector has been corrected.

Model Definition

  1. Problem with the status of results not changing after approving modifications of the load table has been fixed.
  2. Problem with application of linear loads on edges to the structure if defined on the edge of diaphragm without FE mesh or meshed panel has been fixed.
  3. Incorrect application of '(FE) planar load on contour' to perpendicular panels and incorrect application to parallel panels depending on the clockwise/counterclockwise contour definition has been fixed.
  4. Unneeded wind region division along the roof slant for the PN-80/B-02010/Az1:2006 & PN-B-02011:1977/Az1:2009 code under Windows 8 has been corrected.

Analysis and Results

  1. Improper spectral seismic analyses according to the Chinese code GBJ 50011-2001 (wrong spectrum curve and lack of maximum acceleration change for damping value different than default 0.05) and the Moroccan code RPS 2011 (resetting Za acceleration to zero) have been corrected.
  2. Wrong display of the 'out of limit' and 'within limit' bar lists in the global analysis window has been fixed.

Steel Connections Design

  1. 'Beam-to-beam' connection according to the NF-EN 1993-1-8 code: Incorrect use of the beta_Lw coefficient for vertical welds and the web compression resistance capacity reduction for beams higher than 600mm have been fixed.
  2. 'Fixed beam-to-column' connection according to the EN 1993-1-8 code: Improper height of the upper stiffener taken into calculation has been fixed.
  3. 'Tube truss' connection according to the EN 1993-1-8 code: Too low compression capacity of diagonals (while tube brace failure verification) has been fixed.

  3. Incorrect steel parameters taken into account during the calculation of columns reinforcement according to SNiP 52-01-2003 code have been fixed.
  4. Illegible texts on the spread footing drawings have been fixed.
  5. Problem with not symmetrical results for circular columns on slab edges during the analysis of punching according to the EN 1992-1-1: 2004/AC2008 code has been fixed.
  6. Incorrect verification of slab deflection for SLS automatic combinations containing only one component has been fixed.
  7. Illegitimate warning about the wrong SLS combination type for required slab reinforcement according to SNIP code has been removed.
